Cant get rid of root rot

  1. I have tried everything im only a cpl weeks fron harvest and have yanked 2 plans already because of root rot. I've tried to use h202 (%29 peroxide), bleach water temps are staying betwee. 70-72 I have a batch of clones and it almost looked like one was getting it so I yanked it out (I may have just been over worried on that one) either way what exactly should I do to fix this? 20191229_093850.jpg 20191229_093850.jpg 20191229_093850.jpg 20191229_091543.jpg 20191229_093758.jpg

  2. I would inoculate the res with some Garden Friendly Fungicide after changing out the peroxide/bleach water, but I don't grow hydro. :smoking-banana:

  3. Ive tried that twice now

  4. The only thing I know for an absolute 100%fact will fix it is SM-90 but it got banned a couple years back and the only way to get it now is decanted on eBay.
On the plus side it will absolutely still work even if it is diluted to shit.
Always used it at 0.3ml per litre and could run my res at 27*c constantly with zero worries.

How come the peroxide isn’t working though? I’m surprised at that.
You should be using no more than 0.5ml per litre and putting it in with the nutes at every res change or top up.

you changing the res every week?

  5. Yep been changing weekly that's why I'm confused I use h202 hydroguard and a tsp of great white per 3 gal. H202 and hydroguard I follow instructions

  6. Don't let any debris get in the res. I see leaves. Change your air pump tubing from clear to black.. make sure there are no light leaks.
Rinse your roots and pull off and sludge type crap that's building up.
Thoroughly clean each res chamber and dump all the old water and start fresh with the hydroguard

  7. Germs can be stubborn things.
Don't expect to kill everything all at once.
I'd keep adding bleach, about 4-6 drops per gallon per day, and see what happens after a few days.
When roots recover, 2 drops clorox per gallon per day.

Cutting off the damaged roots will probably help.
    Some people willfully prune roots.

  8. How much peroxide were you using? I use the 30% at 25ml a gallon and have almost immediate results.

Today's Forcast... Partly Cloudy With A Chance Of Amber.

  9. WAIT are u mixing peroxide, hydroguard and great white into your res within a short period or time? H2O2 will kill all the hydroguard and great white

  10. Yes I am but I'm at a loss of what to do. Should I just use the h202? And once gone do the hydroguard to prevent?

  11. R
Really that much? I went off bottle says 3ml per gal

  12. Quit adding crap to the soup, bite the bullet and get a chiller.

Try to run your soup @63degF.

  13. Is there one you'd reccomend?

  14. I recommend you get one that is "overkill".
Too small (1/10 hp) and it runs all the time.
For less the 30 gallons I use a 1/4 hp.
You have to take into account that if you are running with an airstone, you are pumping the soup full of room temp air, which will likely be 12-15 degrees above 63F.
Look at the EcoPlus line of chillers.

  15. Are his buckets connected for a chiller to be useful?

  16. Yes they are.. I did however order new black ones so the wouldnt be transparent for light leakage

  17. I like. I still stand by what I said earlier and giving everything a thorough clean.. just rinse the roots under your tap (not cold water tho.. no shock) and use the hydroguard.. as someone else said.. don't mix the hydroguard with peroxide it defeats the object. And if a 500 quid chiller isn't an option straight the way use frozen bottled water in the main res to attempt to keep temps down if that's an issue.
Invest in an inline pump and some pipework and use waterfalls as aeration and ditch the airpump and stones.. plenty of vids on the tube to help you do this.. much love.. hope you get thru this! Peace

  18. Okay guys I done the h202 treatment over night and this morning changed and cleaned all buckets out. I only used about 1/4 strength Nutes. Ppms are setting at 500 right now water temps are 68 and room temp 72.. Leaves look very very droopy is this just because of the shock from h202?

  19. is that the optimum temp?
O2 retention increases as it gets colder

"the oxygen content of a fully aerated solution at 10°C (50° F) is about 13ppm, but as the solution warms up to 20° C (68° F) the ability of the liquid to ‘hold’ oxygen drops to 9 – 10ppm, by the time the solution has reached 30° C (86° F), then it’s only 7ppm."
