ive looked at ace hardware and home depot and cant find a true 100 watt CFL... the highest ive seen was like 42? everything just says 100w equiv, really 26w.. where can i get some 100w's?
lol i went this weekend as well and couldn't find any looking for hps kits in canada but can't find any either
Just use the general conversion for growing. 100w for your first plant and 50w for each additional. That means for 3 plants you would need 150 total watts to get a good grow. I think you would need AT LEAST 6, but preferably closer to 10 of the 26w bulbs. Split them up and during veg do a 3-1 ratio of 6500k bulbs to 2700k bulbs and then in flower just reverse the ratio.
Lumens/per watt is much higher with lower watt CFL's. theoretically 4 cfl's at 25W give more lumens than 1 100w. plus it gives you multiple sources of light. you can get 6-pack 26W cfl's for like 15.00.
so how many 26watts should i use if the plants are only 9 days old? and how many of the 2700's should be with them?
as he stated above, around 100watts for the first plant, and 50watts per plant after. How many plants do you have?? with 2 plants and 26 watt bulbs you would need about 6 bulbs minimum. I am growing 2 plants in a small grow room, 26 watts as well and I am running 8. When I switch to flowering I will be using 6 42 watt 2700k along with 2 26 watt 6500k bulbs. hope this helps
Actually the 100w cfls here 2 to 200 Watt Compact Fluorescent CFLs | 1000Bulbs.com give 68 lumens per watt, which is pretty damn decent. The downside is that at $20 a piece your better off getting 4 26w bulbs. for $14 or less. personally I like the 30w and 42w bulbs for 6500k.
I found 42 watt 2700k bulbs on amazon, from two different companies. One was 2.67 a bulb the other was around 5. The shipping is around 8-12$, but the bulbs are quite cheap and I am going to use those for flowering. For veg im just going to use 8 23 watt cfls
