Can't believe UPS. Would you shut down?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by ogk18, Aug 4, 2012.

  1. Ordered a new can max fan and can carbon filter from amazon, 2nd day air. My doorbell doesn't ring all day, checked tracking at UPS.com and it says delivered/left in front of garage. I walk down to my driveway and there it sits, a carbon filter not in any type of box, just plastic wrapped it. Amazon did not ship it in a box, just wrapped it in plastic where the white filter is leaving the ends of the filter exposed. Had a large Can sticker on the outside with product specifications and just threw a shipping label on it. It sat in my driveway for three hours....

  2. Sounds funky.

  3. Call amazon and ask for a supervisor. That's what I would do

  4. There's nothing illegal in growing vegetables man. So don't be paranoid because that's exactly what your doing is growing vegetables indoors

  5. there's a good chance that most, if not all of the people who saw the filter have no clue what it was

the ones that possibly did see it don't know what you are going to use it for

  6. appreciate it guys, thanks for the reassurance! You really helped ease my mind. Now I'll still have fresh tomatoes to eat in the winter

The thing about smart motherfuckers is
    They sound like crazy motherfuckers

Wow, did the Amazon seller's ad state that this was how they would be shipping the filter... box-less? Or did UPS destroy the box and affix a new label?

If you feel comfortable saying who sent it, (they probably ship dozens of filters a week, so it's not likely that they'd google or check their GrassCity account and automatically trace it back to you :p ) you should let people here know who the specific amazon seller was, so we can avoid them.

Amazon hosts sales for loads of individual merchants and retailers, and simple sellers like any of us... so it's not as though 'Amazon' the company, didn't package it properly. :) Some people ship products properly, and others obvious do not!

I wouldn't personally bother shutting down my grow. Like others have said, most people probably would have no clue what it even was, even after having a good look at it.
If someone did recognize it, for all they know, it could be some home improvement you're doing... all growing aside, it could be simple air-filtration for your dusty basement or for your family's health etc.

I'd be more upset about the obvious disregard and lack of respect for the customer, shipping a package like that without warning... Being packaged like that, I hope it was a VERY good deal!

  10. agreed. People don't know what it is unless they too are using one.

Most probably thought it was a performance, high flow exhaust.

  11. To the general public hydro equipment is like a foreign language. They don't know what it is so they don't care what it it's for.

Just think what your reaction would be if you saw something in your neighbors driveway and had no clue what it was. Would you walk up his drive to investigate it? Hell no! You would just walk into your house like nothing happened. In todays society, especially in the city, most people don't even know their neighbors names let alone care what they do for hobbies.

  12. Man, I figured it would just be some average joe seller, pulling something like that!

You'd think you could expect better from the actual company, than to just ship out equipment with a little plastic wrap, and no padding or protection against sharp edges besides some plastic and the exterior of the item itself... yeah, they are fairly tough and insulated, but still a little respect for a $200 purchase would be nice. It's not like a car tire or something made for physical wear and tear. Being who they are though, they're probably not all that concerned with their buyer's privacy, not like a true hydro shop.
Even so, after the plastic wrap to seal the inside, a cardboard box and a handful of packing peanuts aren't exactly hard to come by. It's not as though Amazon only rarely ships packages, or that boxing items is a new challenge for them. :p

  13. surprised amazon would send without a box... they usually use a few different labels with all sorts of info ... i think maybe ups messed up the box, threw it away, and stuck a new shipping label on the filter

  14. Why would ups take it outta the box and throw the box away. this is how the company shipped it ! id be a little ticked , but most people have no idea what they are anyhow!

  15. This is the reason I use a mom and pop style private mailbox service. They'll sign for packages and hold in to them toll you pick them up. I wont deal with UPS anymore. They've got their drivers running such tight schedules that they don't have the time to care wether your package gets delivered to you personally. My girlfreind had a pack delivered to an apartment on the other side of the building. Our landlord found it while showing the vacant apt to a prospective renter. She let us know and we picked it up from the office. The address was written correctly on the pack but the courrier could care less

Lol where i live mabey for the first 20 minutes but after 3 hrs u could prob walk down the street n find it in a pawn shop

  17. Thats terrible man I am disabled to an extreme to where store shopping is very challenging to say the least and have used amazon for years and as someone else above said I would of expected a less than 90% feedback seller to do that but amazon no. I have to say im surprised and will remember that when ordering.

The suggestion of using a box somewhere isnt a bad idea except if you have members of the world police working there. Then you may have issues with that.

Although I can think of many worse items to worry about being seen publicly air scrubbers are used for a lot of reasons not just indoor gardening.

Dont let it mess with your head to much and good luck.

  18. I don't think Amazon would send it without a box.

  19. No... no you don't need to shut down. They have no clue what you're using for.

  20. On second thought you should shut down and ship everything to me, lol.

Don't trip dude, continue business as usual.
