The bus costs $6? Well, of course it's valid. You can't get there. I assume that since you ride the bus, your school isn't within walking distance. But then again, I also could assume that most people these days are too lazy to walk, even if it isn't that far. I hope that's not you. Some schools also supply bus passes? I dunno... are you in college/university? My pass is included with tuition. The only reason I have for missing class is if the bus (and the ten that follow it) don't pick me up for some reason (overcapacity, driver being a miserable fuck, etc.). This has happened multiple times.
I dont think colleges care about why your absent... Unless you're still in HS in which case you definatly joined underaged.
no other way to get their? That's an expensive bus though... just looked up the bus company that goes through my city. It's $2 for a one-way a trip, or $4 for an all day pass. edit: and as mentioned, colleges don't give a fuck. they have their money, if you decide to blow off your class it makes no difference to them.
i have used much shadier sounding excuses and professors where like "oh ya no problem" you should be fine, unless you have an exam or something. be wary though, some professors are attendance nazi's. its easy to tell based on their syllabus.
I don't know about your colleges, but at mine, yes, you had to come to class. Why? If you get financial aid from the government, or a federal grant, than the government requires such students to attend a certain amount of classes. Our professors were mandated to check daily attendence and report it to the school*** so that these records could be kept. Excessive absences lead to a failure for the course and/or a reduction/loss of financial aid. For my school you could generally miss 3-6 classes a semester without severe penalty. If there was an extreme reason for missing more classes, that could be worked with. So if you are in college, I strongly suggest you haul ass however you can and get to class. Chances are someone is paying for your education one way or the others, and you owe it to them to not slack off and waste their money. ***some professors will mark you as present even if you aren't for certain reasons. It behooves you to get to know your profs, be respectful to them, and let them know if you aren't going to make it to class in advance of a planned absence, or as soon as possible in the event of an unplanned absence.
My school is a 35 minute drive on a highway away, so fuck off those telling me to walk. I go to CC and it's paid for by fafsa, and attendance is taken. The bus is so expensive because I pay for transfers.
Ofcourse attendance is taken. Thats how they know if you missed the class. But its not HS where you have to "call in" sick.
dude, find a bike skate something. the gov is paying for me also. im in a wheelchair not a chance im going to miss class. you no how bordum drives you nuts staring at white walls?use that as motivation.
At my uni, lectures are non-compulsory, but my seminars aren't. Now that we're considered "responsible" adults, they're rarely willing to take bullshit excuses for non attendance which is why I find it handy to have my doctors note. I have a bad foot, you see.
Next semester, as for additional loan money to cover the price of transportation (that's a legit expense). Use that extra money only for transportation. In other words: Like most students who get financial aid, you usually have a little left over after buying books. If you are like I was when I was a freshman, I went slap happy with this sudden small fortune and blew a lot of it on shit I didn't need. It felt great. But it was a stupid idea. Take whatever extra cash you get from your grants/loans that isn't spent on tuition/room/board/books/fees, and buy either one of those one-time pass things that you can use each semester, or just put it in the bank and only use it for bus tickets.... And, since you got loans/grants "from fafsa", that means you're using federal money. Which means my taxes helped pay for it. Which means I'm telling you to use my money right and get your ass to school however you can, earn your degree, and do something with your life and not waste our money.
You're excused. But seriously, is it a city bus? Don't they just give you a transfer? Fo' free? That's what happens in my city... it's good for one hour after it's issued. But I guess not everywhere's the same. You'd think they'd make it more affordable for those who depend on it the most.
If you can't go withdraw and get your money back before your silly ass has to worry about paying back fafsa. Also, didn't you get financial aid money back? If so use that to pay. Excuses are like assholes man. OR: Why not couch surf with friends? Car pool? ... endless possibilities if you are serious about going to school.
I do carpool twice a week, no I didn't get my reimbursement check, and no, the pell grant does not need to be paid back.
um yes it does. if you blatantly do not attend class or just never go, they can & most likely will send you bill to repay the money. you cant expect to get thousands of dollars to sit on your ass. think what you want but they can require you to repay it for not attempting or trying.
