Cannabutter question

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by MarijuanaMommy, Jul 4, 2020.

  1. Here I go with another dang question ..

And probably a dumb one but here goes..
I’m chopping my last auto today and this plant is dedicated to making cannabutter. Is it necessary to dry/cure or can I go straight to decarbing? I imagine I’d have to adjust the time/temperature to do so..
Not sure if I’ll use my MBM or do it the old fashioned way, if that matters

  2. Normal decarb is done with dry herb in air.
If the herb is wet, it won't decarb properly until the water all boils off.

    I make mostly edibles.
When I harvest new herb, I almost always fast dry a small portion of it in a food dehydrator until it stops losing weight.
That usually happens when it's lost 75-80% of its weight.
Then decarb will be fine, and edibles can be made the same day as harvest.

An open oven on its lowest setting, with with a fan outside the oven blowing onto small herb pieces inside might dry it in several hours.

My last food dehydrator run took about 8 hours @ 110 F.
The herb might be a bit harsh to smoke, but it makes edibles as good as usual.

  3. I have a LEVO II and it has a drying cycle for fresh cut weeds.
Then it decarbs, makes the oil or butter or what ever for you.
That thing is kewl. Hardly any work and it's fool proof.
