cannabutter in box brownie mix?

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by greenie402, Sep 1, 2017.

  1. Im new to the forums and have never made edibles so i might sound a little dumb. I already made the cannabutter. I used 1/4 weed and a stick of butter. I had it cooking for about 4 hours (I put the butter and weed in a pot, and put that pot in a pot of boiling water). Now i have this box of betty crocker brownie mix and i was wondering how i should cook it. The recipe calls for 3 tbsp water, 1/2 cup of vegetable oil, and 2 eggs. Do I just mix it all like normal and add some butter to it? Kinda lost

  2. I believe you can replace the oil with butter? Not sure.. I don't cook much.

  3. Yeah, I've done this and it works fine.

The consistency is going to be different, more fudge-like and chewy as opposed to what you'd get if you used oil.

    Edit:

If it calls for a 1/2 cup of oil, use 2/3 cup of butter.

  4. I already made the butter, I used a stick. If I needed 2/3 cups of butter, Id need another stick of butter. Would I be able to add a stick of regular butter on top of the stick of cannabutter to even it out?

  5. Yes.

  6. In the future you should consider skipping the butter making step, assuming you strained out the plant matter.
Strained oils lose about half the medicine to the straining process.
You can make use of all the medicine by decarbing (240 F for 40 min with a thermometer), grinding to powder, mixing with anything oily, and using.
Mixing with nut butter/nutella, baking into brownie or cookie mixes, etc are easy and potent, but there will be slight herb taste.

  7. I can't agree more with this.

I went from making brownies with cannabutter, to making pre-made firecracker spread with a 50-50 mix of coconut oil and peanut butter. I grind up my AVB to a powder and mix it with the two fats to create a spread (additional steps included).

Let's say regular butter takes me to a 6 when I prepare it.

This firecracker spread takes that 6 to a 20. Seriously, I need very small amounts of this spread to achieve the same effect. The first time I ate some of it I grossly underestimated it's strength, and was uncomfortably high for a solid day.

  8. I tried dozens of popular internet recipes with small amounts of herb before discovering that firecrackers were stronger than anything else I'd made from the same amount of original herb.
Ardent Cannabis correctly teaches that after accurate decarb, no additional heat or infusion is needed, and that truth can be used to simply firecrackers.
I like to call this stuff "firecracker spread."
Many edible makers are wasting lots of herb making strained butter/oils.

  9. I've never had an affect off of just plain decarbed weed mixed with oil

  10. Well, that's what firecrackers are essentially and they work. Lol

  11. Are you refrigerating this firecracker spread after making it or do you leave it out?

  12. I sometimes leave mine out, and sometimes make crackers, and refrigerate them.
I suspect without proof that time at room temp makes them a little better.
I've also started cooking in some lecithin (220 F for 20 min), which seems to help.

  13. That really doesn't matter too much, Fresh are fine or you can chill them. Same results.
