CANNABUTTER - Did I do it wrong? :o

Discussion in 'Cannabis & Weed Edibles: Cooking & Recipes' started by DeletedAccount, Jan 7, 2011.

  1. Hello everyone, I'm new to the whole edibles scene and the other day I wanted to make cannabutter because I made firecrackers before and they were disgusting and didn't work at all. So I did everything the like 10 guides I read/watch.

    1.Improvise a double boiler.
    2. Melt butter (1 stick) in top of pan
    3. Put in 3 cups of water [Let it simmer for a while]
    4. Toss in freshly ground bud. [I used about 5 grams of shwag, and a fist sized
    5. Let the mix simmer for about 2 and a half hours.
    6. let it cool for 20 minutes
    7. Pour mix through strainer into container [Making sure to squeeze butter out of buds]
    8. Let it cool overnight.

I ate the cannabutter with a slice of toast and rasberry jam 2 different times, and nothing really happened in the following 2 hours... I thought I might of not eaten enough to get high so I made a super cannabutter dank little toast sandwich I made and still nothing! Note that I smoked before and after the 2 hour periods, until I ate the dank sandwich first thing in the morning, and didn't smoke before just to actually see if it'll get me high, and nothing still...

The ONLY thing I can think of that happened is my tolerance is high and I need to wolf down that butter, or that the THC didn't activated while being simmered in the pot... I dunno anyone wanna help me out here? Can I recook the butter in a pot, to maybe make sure I activated the thc? I DUNNO WHAT TO DO! I need to get high because I'm running low on bud and I need it to last me 5 more days so I need help from my good ol' friend cannabutter, but it's nto workin out :(.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. I checked out your tutorial, and I did almost exactly everything the same MINUS re-cooling it. ALso when I was letting it "simmer" i wasn't like bubbling too much but it was steaming a lot, so that's why I was thinking of reheating just the butter (not the remains, because I already chucked them). You think that might work better?

Oh and I'll take a pic if I can in a little but the color of the budder is like dark yellow mixed with some green.

It looks like other peoples' results I've seen online too so I don't understand... I just melted some budder in a melted chocolate bar and spread it on some crackers, not bad, but I'm not baked! :(

If you make brownies (and other baked goods) does it work better? Or is it the same?
    SOMEONE please let me know!!

  4. the color seems good from the times i have made it.
    reheating the butter might help.
from the books i have read they say reheating it and cooling it several times actually increases the potency. i have done this everytime i made my butter.
how much bud do you exactly put in? i have heard a good ratio is one stick of butter to a quarter of bud. i have always made my butter into cookies or brownies. you probably just have to eat more i guessing. it might not be as strong as you would like.
dont give up though on edibles!!!!
everytime i have made butter it has gotten better each time
i love edibles, in fact i think all this edible talk has got me wanting to make some more butter.
