Cannabutter – Oatmeal raisin cookies Step one – Gather the ingredients for the cannabutter, I suggest at least 14 grams of cannabis per stick of butter, water and a crock pot. I am going to make this batch extra strong so I am going to use one ounce of nice trim leafs from a cheese plant and three ounces of lower buds from a Jack Flash #5. Use the amount of butter based on how much cannabis you have, the amount of water is really unimportant, but I use a cup per stick of butter. Step two – Combine everything into your Crockpot and turn it on low for 20 hours. This will smell from a long way away so I don't suggest this for you apartment dwellers, you could smell it in our driveway. Step three – time to strain the butter, you should use cheesecloth for this, but I couldn't find one so I used a clean t-shirt. Strain it into a glass container, make sure it's tempered glass, and I suggest insulated kitchen gloves because the butter holds heat very well and will burn you. After you strain it use a spoon to press the butter out, then twist the top of the cheese cloth and squeeze it into a tight ball to get every drop of butter out. Step four – refrigerate the butter / water solution, the butter will rise to the top and solidify with all the THC. After several hours, or overnight remove the butter and drain the water and you are left with some nasty looking but bomb butter for cooking anything. Now for the oatmeal raisin cookies. Ingredients 1 cup (2 stick) 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1/2 cup granulated sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 teaspoon almond extract 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional) 3 cups Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked) 1 cup raisins Preparation Heat oven to 350F. In large bowl, beat butter and sugars on medium speed of electric mixer until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; then mix with butter mixture; mix well. Add oats and raisins; mix well. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheets; remove to wire rack. Cool completely. Store tightly covered. Warnings: Keep these out of the reach of children; some dumb ass lady in Colorado just got arrested for feeding her grandkid cannabutter cookies. There is also a chance that you may eat a cookie, get the munchies about 30 minutes later and eat another cookie, this begins a endless cycle in where you may not remember an entire week of your life.
Thanks for the write up. Great pictures and instructions, can't wait to try it with my harvest. Kudos.
NICE. The cookies look really good. Will one of them get you messed up? Also, how hard is it to clean the crock-pot afterward? I imagine it wouldn't be hard at all.
They look good. I just made a batch of brownies with the trim from my first harvest. Mine weren't as powerful as I had hoped. You had to eat two of them to really get a good buzz.
maybe that's the problem... i usually melt the butter first and then add the stuff, doesn't smell as bad IMO
One cookie will give you a nice buzz, two makes you feel almost more of a drunk than a high. Clean up is really easy,
You can compensate for the smell by building a fire in an open fireplace or lots of vanilla candles. The fire works really well if you're curing as well because the entire apartment had an extremely strong smell even though it was in a back room with the doors closed and drying in a closet. Just some alternatives. Some of my buddies have used incense but it doesn't agree with me anymore... No more Nag Champa. Good info and plus rep. You can make a double broiler if you don't have a crock pot with two separate pots (small one with the mix inside a large one with simmering water and a lid). This way you don't burn the bud and cause the butter to taste something rough.
You can also cut the smell to almost nothing by putting the butter and herb in a mason jar and put the sealed jar in the crock pot full of water. Also put some type of stand in the pot to sit the mason jar on.
Great post, and all the tips are great too. I have another question and I'm not sure if any of you can help. I am a vegan, so I was wondering if there was any other way of making a "butter" with out using butter? Do you think I could use the same method but maybe use olive oil, or maybe a higher temp. oil like grapeseed oil? I want to make some vegan yummies.
"There is also a chance that you may eat a cookie, get the munchies about 30 minutes later and eat another cookie, this begins a endless cycle in where you may not remember an entire week of your life." that is fucking the best thing ive read all week How much bud did you put in? like 2 ounces?
Just curious, would this work better w/out water? I see why water is a must when making cannabutter over the stove, as the concoction quickly burns w/out it. With a very low, long, simmer like a crock pot, i would imagine you don't need any water?
Thank you for the tips on the smell, I used a double boiler last time and it worked great but it wasn't big enough for this batch. I would not do this, you're making a bomb if you seal the mason jar the thermal expansion would make it blow up, unless you meant to leave the lid unsealed but then the smell might still escape. You can actually use any oil with the same recipe, just don't add the water and cook for an extra 6-10 hours. (I have to thank Denver's Ganga Gourmet where I got most of the tips) I used a total of 4 ounces to 6 sticks of butter, a little overboard but I wanted it to be extra strong, and it worked. I used to use a double boiler without water and it worked great. As you stated you must use the water if you cook it on the stove or the butter will burn. I had to add water to my crock pot just so that I could completely submerge all the marijuana in the solution.

Actually I've done this a couple of times and it worked. I didn't make this up read it a couple of places on the net. I figured it would be like canning veggies or fruit. Also read that making it the way you did with the water makes for better taste. something to with the water retaining some of the cholorifil. The mason jar methos was just to cut down on smell.
When you can veggies you leave the lid on loose so the pressure can escape, sound like a good tip, just be careful.
Me too, we just polished off the first batch I made with half the butter, so I will be making another batch tonight.
Finished off the second batch of cookies yesterday..... good thing we are getting close to havest to make more butter.
mmmm looks yummy. I'd really like to try this, but it'd be realy hard for me to use that much green.. I mean thats alot of smoke for a batch of cookies. Then again, I could see for a get together or an occasion. Deff gonna save this recipe, thanks.
