"cannabis dependence"

Discussion in 'Experienced Cannabis Enthusiasts' started by w0lfey, Sep 5, 2012.

  1. i'm aware cannabis isn't physically addictive...but i've heard of "cannabis dependence" which i thought was silly at first, but then i realised i was a victim of the exact same thing. early in this year i was smoking almost every day and was happier and more functional than i had been in a long time, but when there was a dry spell where i live i had to go without, which fucked me up a bit. i was fine during the day but as soon as i was by myself i'd be miserable, lonely and bored, and i didn't sleep well, and i enjoyed sex less... then as soon as my dealer friend got back from university i was fine again. after he left for university again i had a short tolerance break and i haven't had any problems going without since. i now smoke every day but i can happily go without when needs be.

[i also have a mood disorder, but i've been medicated for that for the past five years and i have it under control, so i don't know if that's the root of what happened.]

  2. This is because of a loss in dopamine levels. Marijuana releases more dopamine in your system, and therefore the loss in marijuana means your serotonin levels are decreased and need time to balance out. The boredom and stuff results from a loss in an old hobby, you just need to find other stuff to do. The moodiness will pass, and soon I bet you will wonder whether or not you even want to smoke again.

  3. i feel terrible when im off it sucks i get the same sides but gotta always find something interesting to do and get your mind ov it.

  4. I've been an 3 time a week smoker for the past 2-3 years. When I go longer than 3 or 4 days without it my depression really gets the best of me. I refuse to take any meds, weed does the trick! :smoke:

When you have to do without, exercise! :hello:

But hon, you may be deficient in anandamide and/or 2-AG, endocannabinoids that your body makes. Dr Russo did a paper on it-

Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency (full - 2004)
Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency (CECD) - Russo

Dr Russo believes that many people just don't make enough in the way of endocannabinoids and this causes multiple health problems. He likens these people to type 1 diabetics- dependent on an outside source for what their bodies should be producing naturally.

In addition, the CB receptors that send messages into your cells, can't be made properly without Omega 3! No omega 3 when a CB receptor is being made = a "dud" receptor! A dud receptor won't get that message through to the cell.

With a lot of duds, important messages don't get through to the cells! Now if it happens to be a new cancer cell, and the message is "DIE! COMMIT APOPTOSIS!" it can be pretty darn important.

Or the message can be "I'm high on pot"- yep, those CB1 receptors in your brain are what get you high! Too many duds will cut into your high! :(

Omega 3 isn't a quick fix- it takes at least a month for enough duds to be replaced to have an effect. But since Omega 3 is so DANG GOOD for you in many ways, you should be taking it anyway! :yay:

And just to rub it in for the younger crowd-

  6. Just get high bro, Fuck everything else

  7. When I was younger my Xbox Live went out for a few weeks and I had similar side-effects as you. I'm not sure if it is dependence because its a drug or because its a activity. But I've quit bud for weeks and never went through a state of depression. I do workout on a daily bases and drink a lot water. (Half my body weight in fluid onces)

  8. You should turn that new found energy and use it to go talk to women. Get laid, or at least keep trying to get some. That or just masturbate.

  9. yea i used to get that same feeling alot before. but i'm now at the same point as you that i can be happy if i dont smoke for a couple days or week.

i think you get more weed dependence when your smoking blunts cuz of the tobacco's kinda addicting..but then it wouldnt really be a dependence on weed....
