Hey GC I got this problem that has me scratchin my head. I have a recirculating top feed drip system. I use canna aqua along with rhizo and cannazym. My plants are four sensi star seedlings about 3-4 weeks old. Im just maturing them in the drip system, then keeping two as mothers to transplant to dwc. My medium is hydroton. Before starting I rinsed the hydroton pretty well with just regular tap water. I use ro water supplemented with calimagic to account for canna's intended purpose to be used with tap. Here's the problem; my tds with all the nutes added comes to about 700. I allow the soup to sit overnight for everything to stabilize, add some Ph down (earth juice's natural down) to 5.8, then add to my resorvoir. come feding time, my timer clicks on for 15 minutes. Within 15 minutes my Ph will have risen to 6.4 even 6.5. It would go up to 7.2 if left alone for a full day or so. Is it because I didnt soak my hydroton in Ph balanced water? I heard it was necessary for coco or rockwool but not hydroton?? Im using 4ml/gal calimagic is this too much? is it the rhizo? I know that its really basic but shouldnt the down and/or cannazyme counteract that? I know the drip system splashes so air gets mixed in but it doesnt seem normal that my Ph changes so drastically just because of oxygenation.. Only two of my plants show any signs of stress. One has some yellowing and spots on its two bottom first set of 'true leaves'. The has tips browning. Ive already snipped the cotyledons. please help ive already had to do a flush after 3 days cuz I was worried about burning them. Im doing another tomorrow. This time i'll be dialing the calimagic in to 250ppm rather than just 4ml/gal like I did before. I was also going to try lowering the rhizo dose by a lot and buffering it with cannazyme rather than the down. I should have pics up for you guys soon too. But any help at this stage would help before I have to flush again tomorrow this Ph thing is drivkng me nuts! Oh yeah I also wanted to say my tds and ec are both going up also. Tds at 860 after just 3 days when it used to be 700! I azsumed this is from all the Ph down ive been having to add..
Sorry for the long post. late and im high and frustrated and I just wanted to explain what ive been thinking so we dont end up being repetitive. Ive looked all over and found people just cut out the rhizo but I really like how my roots are doing already and that shit was expensive so id just as soon not drop it while I still have it. girls just sprouted their first set of 5-point leaves
