Cancer Risks?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by BillWithers, May 29, 2012.

1. I'm relatively new to smoking weed. My main health concerns about smoking are cancer. I only smoke about once a month. Will this likely cause lung or throat cancer? Also, I have a mild case of asthma. Will smoking once a month have any significant effect on lung function, especially for someone with mild asthma?

2. You're fine

3. no risk of cancer whatsoever from weed smoking. in fact there is some research to suggest it can actually help shrink tumors. for asthma you may want to consider getting a vaporizer.

4. Aren't there carcinogens and toxins in marijuana smoke?

5.
Aren't there carcinogens and toxins in marijuana smoke?
Yes. But most people don't smoke enough for it to be an issue. You'd have to go through more than an 8th a day for years for it to have an impact.

6. Ok. Thanks. So smoking a bowl or two every month or so won't hurt?

7.
Aren't there carcinogens and toxins in marijuana smoke?
Yes, but a very small amount in comparison to cigarettes. Virtually no harm unless you smoke copious amounts daily for years.

8.
Ok. Thanks. So smoking a bowl or two every month or so won't hurt?
You could smoke a bowl or two a day and it wouldn't hurt.

9. You will get mixed responses, but most people will agree that even if you smoke three times a month you will be fine.

10. Thanks guys. What makes marijuana smoking easier on your lungs than tobacco smoking?

11. Cannabis is an all natural plant, whereas tobacco has hundreds of chemicals added to it and is grown with radioactive soil.

You have nothing to worry about, as the other posters said it would take ludicrous amounts of continuous smoking to cause any type of problems. Enjoy :smoke:

12. i smoke both and as long as i'm not taking giant rips marijuana is much less harsh than tobacco

13. the active ingredients in marijuana are like space invaders fighting camcer and tumors with lasers.

14. Thanks for the help guys.

God you are high, aren't you?

16. They give weed to people who have cancer... Your not going to get cancer from weed... But everything in this world gives you cancer.
But if your smoking from aluminum your chance of getting cancer is way higher, fuck aluminum.. I used to smoke from it all the time when i had nothing to smoke from...

17. aren't we all :) i love the image his quote put in my head. it lived itself out inside my mind.

i'm also blazed though. bubbler bowls of dank and hash.... :smoking:

18. I would defiantly suggest to buy a vaporizer if you are concerned. Not only will it help making smoother hits for dealing with asthma, it also basically eliminates any carthagins possible. Vaporizers heat up your bud until pure thc is released, leaving all your plant matter still intact and not burned. However, for only smoking a few times a month a vape is probably not worth your money.

But just sit back, relax, smoke all you want, and laugh at all the sheep who actually believe how bad marijuana is for you...

19. Heavy cannabis smokers have been proven to have the same, or less likelihood of developing cancer and respiratory disease, than 100% non-smokers..

Where as tobacco for instance, has been proven to promote a 20-fold (20 times more likely) increase in the odds of developing most cancers and lung-related diseases, by using the very same tests and studies, and in some cases, performed on the very same test groups and people as those who were questioned and studied for cannabis use.

In other words, the evidence is stacked high against everything from kitchen cooking oil, to tobacco, to air-fresheners; these have ALL been linked to health issues including cancers and respiratory diseases, but even those who oppose cannabis have never been able to prove using the same science, a connection between similar negative drawbacks, to even smoking cannabis let alone other, healthier forms of use.. in fact, smoking cannabis, unlike studies performed on smoking ANY other plant matter, has shown to increase and improve lung capacity, similar to atheletes (swimmers in particular, it's speculated that where no damage is caused, that we practice and develop a kind of lung-control, and evenetually an increased capacity, that most non-smokers do not have).

A quick link, for reference... some of the most recent, and largest studies of their kind, like the one discussed in the link below, which prove cannabis smoke does not cause the damage we once thought, were performed by some of the most intelligent and brightest specialists, scientists and doctors, who at one time worked for the government and the opposition, studying against cannabis, who were later compelled to change their minds after their discoveries!

And once you begin vaping and eating, and remove the smoke element, you're even safer. :yay:
