So, here in Canada they have a "not4me" drug campain. It was basically a commercial where a kid is offered a joint at a party and they show him failing school, arguing with his parents, trying harder drugs, etc.

Now they actually made a commercial and changed the campain to "Drugs Not 4 Me" (Why they use a 4 instead of a "for" boggles my mind...its silly text talk.) In this commercial it seems they are actually focusing on those other drugs they are talking about.
Theres a song playing it goes something like: "1, 2 kicked outta school; 3, 4 snort some more; 5, 6 get my fix; 7, 8 it feels too late."
Here is the link to the video: DrugsNot4Me - TV ad 'Mirror'

So I went to their website to read what information they have about marijuana to see how biased they are. This anit-drug website is actually not spewing out as much bullshit as they were before. Yes, there still are some bullshit propaganda facts, but they seem to realize that no one is going to take them seriously if all they are doing is saying how horrible weed is.

On this first link, they put total biased bullshit: Drug Facts

But when you click "GET THE FULL FACTS ON CANNABIS" it actually doesnt tell as many lies.
LINK: Cannabis (Marijuana, hash, hash oil and hemp)- Learn about Drugs - Health Canada

Wow,instead of say "marijuana potency is higher than ever!" they put why the potency can be higher, and it didnt say anything bad so far!

They addressed medical marijuana, thats good. They didnt say it was good, but they didnt say it was bad at least.

They actually didnt say anything bad in that paragraph. They just told the facts.

This IS actually true. Cannabis does indeed effect everyone differently, you cant deny that. And their list of reasons why it can effect you differently is actually quite accurate.

Facts. Nothing biased. Just telling people what it might be like to be high. Perceptual distortions like distortion of time, etc. do happen.

Uh, hallucinations? Not exactly true. Thats their first piece of propaganda, but they have been doing good so far? By the way they word it they make it seem like cannabis makes you trip like hallucinogens we arent allowed to talk about, you dont see shit pop out of nowhere. Though I guess you could get some CEV's.

They actually said you can't OD on cannabis! Im glad they are getting real facts out there.
If you have ever drank and smoked at the same time, you know that cannabis + alcohol = severe impairment, haha.

Though, that last line is bullshit, but other than that they've havent been severely biased. Weed is NOT a factor in many injuries and intentional deaths.

Atleast they just said cannabis SMOKE, not just cannabis.
Though, it doesnt cause cancer, so thats their 3rd untruthful fact on this page so far.

They didnt lie and twist the facts. I'm impressed.

Not sure how cannabis effects unborn babies, someone enlighten me? Any real studies?

    Physical dependence. No. No. No.
    Tremors, I dont think so.
Stomach discomfort, I dont think so either.
But all the other ones? They can be true for a few people...If I have been smoking all week and stop for a day, its a little bit harder to get to sleep, but thats just me.
    What do you guys think??

You can go to the link and read stuff I didnt quote: Cannabis (Marijuana, hash, hash oil and hemp)- Learn about Drugs - Health Canada
What do you think, is the Canadian government finally realizing what us citizens have already realized?

(Oh and mods, move this thread if you think if fits in another section better)

  2. Canada 1 USA none

  3. This is honestly the way to go about educating children and teens on marijuana. Give them the straight facts. Kids aren't stupid, they know when you are bullshitting them.

Fuck Nancy Reagan's "Just say No" policy, fuck the DEA, fuck the drug warriors and the old people who cannot change. USA needs to get its head out of its ass.

  4. Glad to see that our neighbors to the north actually have their heads on straight and not up their asses.

PS that little puzzle on the biased fact page is funny as fuck to me.

  5. Wow most US gov sites with "facts" about mj piss me off...that was actually pretty accurate. Very little bullshit propaganda..

Yeah I was pretty shocked too that it actually was mostly accurate, its a government website so I was incredibly excited to see their facts on weed are getting more truthful.

They went from a commercial on TV that is totally anti-weed, to this. Dont know what happened, but whatever did is a step in the right direction.

Just lurking around the website and found this:
Yeah they said smoking is bad, but at least they acknowledged that there is no evidence of marijuana smoke causing cancer.

  7. About the hallucinations part. I think they are required to include this because some of the people they've "studied" probably admitted to having hallucinations. What they fail to realize is that marijuana creates ILLUSIONS not hallucinations. If you try a drug that really causes hallucinations you'll understand the difference.

Another reason could be that marijuana can cause flashbacks of other psychedelics the user might have taken prior in life. that being hallucinations or pseudo-hallucinations.

  8. Yeah, they should definitely reword that part and/or clarify.
Its like they are saying weed causes people to "trip" and actually see shit like some hallucinogens we arent allowed to talk about which is definitely not the case.

  9. Exactly, this misinformation is what's tearing the world apart.

People don't realize that when the government is telling children DRUGS ARE BAD, THEY KILL! They are sending the message that the government knows what's best for you. Now let's say little timmy decides to smoke a doob for his first time with his older bro or something. He discovers that weed is awesome, exhilarating, interesting, and he's STILL alive. Now the government is wrong in timmy's eyes. They straight up lied to him. This is the case with other drugs too, kids try em and find out they aren't dead. What we need to be teaching children is HOW someone dies off drugs. WHY drugs are bad.

Go tell a 7 year old not to do something. Chances are they'll do it. It's human nature to rebel. Everyone does it. So by saying DON'T DO DRUGS, you're telling a child DO DRUGS, THEY ARE GOOD FOR YOU. Sorry for the rant. Idk if anyone will even understand this. im tired.. sleepz

  10. Yeah, I totally agree with everything you said. We should teach people the HOW and WHY. If we dont tell them the real facts, they are just going to think all drugs are the same and think every drug out their is as harmless as marijuana.

I read the stuff on other drugs on that government website, and Im shocked. They're facts are actually not so biased. Not super informative, but still a bit of non-biased information.

  11. The hallucinations and mild withdrawal is true actually , hallucinations are rare but people do get them. As for withdrawal like they said , its not intense but you can feel a bit "off"

  12. It did say "may" experience these symptons, or "possibly could" have these effects. All in all its a lot better than anything the U.S. govt ever says. Whenever they bring up MMJ they always just point straight to marinol. Oh canada I want you

  13. Yeah Im shocked Canada is kind of turning around possibly with its anti-drug campaigns.

  14. Why? Dont over half of Canadians smoke weed sometime in their life? If there really is democracy in the world than it would only make sense that the legal opinion of marijuana changes with the public opinion.

  15. Hopefully the Canadian government becomes pro-marijuana one day.
The current prime minister Steven Harper is pretty against marijuana. :(

  16. :( that sucks. I doubt anything will change as far as Canadian marijuana laws til American marijuana laws change. Damn NAFTA,UN, NATO shit :(

We can only hope... keep fighting the good fight blades :smoke:

  17. That is true, with our current government in office

  18. There's a difference between trying weed a few times and being a stoner. The more you smoke weed, the more you understand that it's not just a way to get "fucked up". Also, not everyone who smokes weed will have a positive experience every single time. Sometimes, smoking weed just exacerbates anxiety and other issues and in those situations, weed is not a fun thing.

  19. Don't most people who are willing to try weed once or twice in their life think that it should at least be legal?

  20. If someone tries it a few times and enjoys it, it would make sense for that person to want it legalized just so he/she could have the option of trying it again should he/she want to.

If someone tries it and doesn't enjoy it, there's still no reason for that person to want weed to stay illegal. Even if someone never wants to try it, why the hell would they care if it's illegal? It's not like they'll accidentally get high because their neighbor is smoking weed.
