Canada: Mandatory six months for 5 plants

  1. OTTAWA - Tenants caught growing as few as six marijuana plants in their dwellings could face automatic jail terms of at least nine months, under a federal drug-sentencing bill revived Wednesday that imposes harsher penalties on home renters than on owners.
The bill, introduced for the third time after dying twice before, proposes mandatory minimum jail terms for a variety of drug-related crimes, removing discretion for judges to sentence as they see fit.

  2. Sucks how we take 1 step forward and 8 steps back

  3. How did Harper get in office, again?

It blows your mind how a guy like that can be running a country such as this.

But I guess now there's a minimum that you know you can still have.

For now just make sure you only have 5 plants, and you escape the mandatory minimum sentence.

You can get over a pound a plant, on some plants, so just make sure you grow wisely. :p

  5. Is this now law, or just proposed legislation, if its the latter what are the chances of it getting blocked by the other parties?
