  1. If you do believe in heaven or hell do you believe you're going there? Not only that, can you wait to get there? I personaly, wether it be heaven or hell, cant wait.. I just want to see what the after life will be like, or will there be anything? I'm not saying i want to die, i love life and i enjoy it, im just curious..

  2. i dont think im worthy of heavan yet, im sitll young gotta lots of stuff still to do, the way i look at it is that u find out the truth when u die, God and everything, that's why im not scared to die

  3. I believe I'm on my way to heaven. If anyone wants to know why I believe that - ask... I'm sure most of you know by now though ;) LOL

I can't wait to get there, but I also want to stay here on earth as long as I can. I'd like to bring as many people with me as I can though

  4. why>??

  5. I believe I'm on my way to heaven based on promises found in the Bible... If you want the verses showing these promises, I'll gladly give them...

  6. Oh, I can wait...absolutely no hurry here...I'm having a blast

  7. you're a complete idiot. you're going to heaven because some book that was put together by all the reigning power houses in BC because they needed something to keep the masses under control?

Wow. Ignorant, you are. I'm sorry but, the bible, as with every other piece of history, gets warped every single time somebody tells it. You're crazy man.

  8. Wow...easy, boy...you're insulting people here...I might not agree with some people here, but I so respect their opinions...so should you...

  9. I'm the idiot? You're the one who needs to learn some history - as your description of how the Bible came about is completely wrong. I have pleanty of evidence that supports my beliefs, and I can also prove that the Bible isn't just some book that was created to "control the masses" as you put it.

  10. I would be really really interested to hear what that evidence is...I'm struggling in what my beliefs are and that "proof" would be nice to know

  11. Some of my proof is based on my own personal experiences, so I'll not be posting that as "hard proof"

The solid proof I have is that the Bible never once contradicts itself, it's 100% historically accurate, and there's a lot of specific prophecy that has come true.

Now - to prove the Bible wasn't just created to "control the masses."

The books of the Bible were written over a span of 1,600 years, by about 40 different people, and over an area that spanned 3 continents. Over many years. Most of these people never had ANY contact with those who wrote the other books, but yet they all tell the same story, have the same focus, and they don't contradict.

Over the years these manuscripts were found, and put together. The details were hammered out over many, MANY years as to what books got in, what books didn't, and all that. The ones that were let in were held to very high (and specific) standards...

I'm being pretty general with my explainations as I've got about 50+ pages of notes regarding this subject that get pretty deep, and I don't have 4 hours to sit here and type them all out.

You can run a search for "Prophecy come true" or "are we living in the end times?" and read more. If anyone plans on arguing with me on the Bible contradicting itself - there's already a thread for this. Search for "Why the Bible is Wrong," by Zylark.

  12. Cottons, I have been interested in "The Dead Sea Scrolls". Do you know what I'm talking about? I hear that it contained all but 2 of the books from the OT. I am really interested in learning more about these if you have any links or information you can share with me.

  13. ok well, even though I don't really agree with you I respect your beliefs and will just let it go....but I have a quick question- if you're christian/religious why do you smoke, isn't the bible against it?

  14. Opivy, Check them out of the library? Or buy them at the book store. You can scroll through amazon and read the references for the various versions. (It is my opinion that you should look for the newest published Dead Sea Scrolls Bible.)

  15. Well I thought it was all of the books except for 2 from the OT and was just extremely old. Same messianic prophecies to my understanding and supposedly they are from 100 years before christ.

This is what I have read about them so far. I would like to learn about them more though.

  16. The dead sea scrolls when put together = most of the OT (I'm not too sure on the specifics though). I have some notes on them, but I'll have to dig through to see what they are. I don't think we spent a whole lot of time on them in Doctrines I. They contain LOTS of messianic prophecy, and end times prophecy. They were really important because it was the largest find of its kind.

And to whoever said you should find the newest dead sea scroll Bible... Just read any KJV's OT. If you're wondering why the KJV, there's a thread comparing it with today's versions floating around here. Check it out :D

EDIT: Who do I smoke if I'm a Christian even though it's wrong? Because I'm human and I have my faults just like everyone else. I don't plan on smoking weed forever, and I'm making forward progress in that direction. It takes time to give up something that was such a huge part of your life.

  17. Opivy, I was just saying to actually read them. I feel the best way to learn about something is to study the item in question. They have translated versions of the Sea Scrolls all over the place. They come in the form of a Bible... One big book.

I don't really like some of the sites about them, but here's an unbiased quote about them: "The Dead Sea Scrolls are a collection of about 850 documents, including texts from the Hebrew Bible, which were discovered between 1947 and 1956 in eleven caves near Qumran, a fortress northwest of the Dead Sea in Israel (in historical times part of Judea). They were written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, sometime between the 2nd century BC and the 1st century AD. The texts are important as being practically the only Jewish Biblical documents from that period, and because of what they can tell about the political and religious context."

My husband has read most of them, I have only read 2 books and it was long ago. I want to read them as well. If I order the translated text and and after finishing it, I'll mail it to you.

If I ever run across a site that is worthy and almost devoid of bias, I will share it.

  18. I have no desire to read the OT sorry.

  19. The Dead Sea Scrolls = almost all of the OT. If you wanna know what the scrolls say, read the OT. If you don't care what they say - don't read the OT :D
