Can you tell strains by looking at them?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Johhny Dukesup, May 21, 2010.

  1. And by strains I simply mean can you tell Indica from Sativa just from looking at the weed. Already dried, of course.
  2. Not at all
  3. Yea actually you sort of can, it's not very accurate though.

Indicas are more dense while Sativas are more fluffy and less dense.

  4. No i have not found this to be true.

You cannot know the strain for sure unless you are the grower or personally know the grower.
  5. If you didnt buy them with the name labeled on the seed pack, theres no true way of knowing. Of course you can separate the indica sativa category upon smoking. But thats about it, crystals and hairs can come into play, but thats a given
  6. Indicas are generally more dense, darker colored nugs, with more of an earthy smell to them

Sativa is generally more fluffy, lighter colored green nugs with more of a skunky smell.

Of course you can encounter indicas with sativa like properties, and vice versa. But generally that is the rule to determining indica strains from sativa strains.
