So not to long ago in psych class we were talking about Freud's super-ego (the part of the subconscious mind that causes you to compare yourself to what society considers the 'ideal' individual) and we got into a debate about how some people say its better to not care what anyone things about you. Everyone knows how the ideal human being should act- something like harvey dent from batman pre-insanity. He was just, always played fair, and willing to stick up for those who could not fend for themselves. And everyone loved him. He understood what the ideal person should be and epitomized that in every action. But then wouldn't everyone who claimed to not give a flying fuck (provided that they truly didn't and weren't just BSing) be a huge dick? If you didn't care what other people thought why be good to anyone. You could be completely selfish and get off with a free conscious. But then again, could said person who didnt give a fuck operate entirely from their own morale compass and do good for no ones benefit but their selves? Is that even possible? Idk im stoned and just an interesting conundrum i thought.
Maybe if the person was a dick by nature, then they would do what they felt was natural. But if the person was good by nature, then they would be good. Idk just a thought, Im no philosipher. (sp?)
I say screw those people who think they have to be like everyone else. Individuality is the best thing about the world
this. personally i think its important to be above others opinions of yourself. if others opinions of you are more important than your own, you will be sacrificing your happiness and your own character for someone else

I don't care what people think of me, but for some reason I just feel bad if I'm a dick. If you know and understand right and wrong, good and evil, light and darkness, etc, your soul should be intact. BUT DON'T EVER LET YOUR GODDAMN GUARD DOWN. I'm not Christian, nor monotheistic of any denominations, but don't think that the concept of Satan doesn't still exist. I don't want to turn this into an Illuminati/Sumerian history thread, so I'll just say be the best person you can be. I prefer not give a shit what people think because it limits my freedom....it has nothing to do with not having a moral compass.
some people act morally because they believe it's objectively right, not because of what others think. i'm not one of those people but i suppose one not giving a shit what others thought wouldnt affect his morality. morality is subjective though, and it varies from person to person.
I don't care about other peoples opinions yet I would'nt hurt them because of it...I guess I'm a good..ish person idk.

What is good? What is bad? These are questions that have plagued humanity since the dawn of time. To one, stabbing another in the throat is good, to another, it is bad. There is no answer to the topic creators questions, or to the person I am quoting.
If they truly didn't give a fuck, they wouldn't convey that they didn't give a fuck in any way, shape, or form. The type of person you describe is very, very rare.
I define a moral action as an action that decreases the pain and suffering in a living being's life. If you would not give a fuck, how could you be moral? You wouldn't care about any person or any other animal!
i truly, do not give a flying fuck what people think of me. sure i used to, but what i've gone through these past few years changed me, and made me a better person on the inside. if you're only acting for the sake of your reputation, then your just a fraud. you should be able to feel it in your heart if you're a good person. i can. i have much love for this world, and my hardships have only given me a new respect for it. IMO, if you're run by what people will think, then you're just selfish. and a dick. after all, it's not about you. so why care?
