I say we stop using this silly, foreign, slanderous, racist word immediately. It is nothing more than a once obscure mexican slang word used by Anslinger in the 30's to instill fear into uneducated and ignorant masses. "Marijuana" is the farthest from the proper name for this plant that I can think of. Its not even English! If we are just going to use slang words for it, Id rather call it Pot, or Weed, or Grass, at least those are in english. I mean how stupid do we sound, touting that we are trying to educate the masses about this wonderful plant, when we dont even call it by its proper name? Even organizations like NORML and MPP just plain out have it all wrong. Am I the only one who sees this??

I definately prefer cannabis over marijuana. First of all because cannabis sativa is the plant's official name and the word marijuana sounds dumb in any language other than spanish.

Refer to marijuana by 'cannabis' and keep calling hemp by 'hemp'?

I love the word marijuana, I love the word weed, I love the word pot and I even dont mind pot being called "dope". I love all the old school slang terms for it. I like cannabis too. Hell one day I'm gunna memorize the whole slang term list and use every one.

I completely agree. Personally, I call it cannabis, since that also incorporates the important medicinal and industrial uses, and it just sounds nicer. I hate the word marijuana; that, and pot, but the latter pisses me off even more.
