  1. Can you run 2 600w hps and 2 6 inch fans on an extension lead (50 meters 13 amp 240v)
I cant afford to run an armoured cable but I was wondering if anyone has any experience and if they've done it before with no problems. is 2.5kw pulling to much?? can it cause a fire??

  2. 50 meters is a long way for an extension lead,
that long of a run needs to be hard wired like your house is, it may even need a sub-panel to accept the large wire it will take to go that distance.

    that being said.....
i would try it, but i would get the biggest lead possible (12 or 10 awg.???)
if the circuit you are plugged into is protected with a breaker or fuse then all you need to do is monitor the lead for heat issues, if it ever feels warm there is too much resistance and may catch fire.

look at solid core wire, you would have to attach ends to it, but it will carry more volts/amps.!!
there is charts that will give you the proper size wire for the length/amps.

What size wiring, and wiring type is the extension cord? How far is the outlet that the extension cord will plug into from the breaker box?

  4. I can help depending on the cable u should be fine as long as its a 2.5.. I would lend to go with an out door extension lead because there much tuffer you wont over charge or flip the circuit braker :)

  5. I run higher anounts keep wires straight no nots or bunches and keep an eye on the heat from wire if it don't get hot your fine im no expert tho

  6. keep in mind. using 220 your only pulling half the amps. so running 1200 watts total its 6 amps. NO you can not safely run an extension cord this far it will require a 8 gage cord that is not made. you can NOT run two cords
YOU will need to buy some 8 gage make your own and that is foolish for the price you might as well buy 4 gage wire in bulk and run a new breaker box and be done. i am saying this from experience and here is a website
.Viking Tables and Calculators - Wire Size Calculator
to save you time if you did it your self and know how to run a new breaker and do a over head power line or not suggested but its done dig a trench in the ground . total cost for this will be about 1000 bucks.
