What I mean by this is if you're texting a guy about weed and you refer to it vaguely.

For example, "Hey, you need that?" or "You got that?" can you get in trouble for it? I'm in Virginia, if that makes a difference. I'm not in any trouble or anything, I was just curious. It's been on my mind a while.

Thank you to user Slavakonov for clearing this up and answering the actual question. This topic is now solved.

  2. Cops arent going to go out of their way to bust you they want your connects connect in the grand scheme of things not you. You could text him "hello drug dealer do you happen to have exactly 14 grams of high grade marijuana for sale that i could buy" and if the cops saw it if he got busted or something im still willing to say they wont care enough to make an effort to arrest you. If they did yay they just caught a kid that smokes weed, woopty fucking doo i bet that makes em look like the star of the department

  3. Cops wont see your texts unless they have a warrant in which case youre soon to be if not already in cuffs

  4.
Right, I doubt they're going to just let me go if they happen to stumble upon my text history.

Putting morals aside, can police legally and lawfully arrest me for it?

I'm sorry, but that does not directly relate to my question.

Can police legally and lawfully arrest me if they read texts implying the purchase/distribution of marijuana?

Edit: Regardless of how they find the texts.

  6. i dunno, can they?

  7.
Do you really need to be a smart ass? I'm asking because I do not know the answer.

  8. as far as i know, the police can do whatever the fuck they want in virginia. i wouldnt play around that close to dc

  9. There is no body there is no crime....meaning no, unless its an undercover youre texting, no.Why would any cop just "stumble" upon than info anyway?

  10.
Lots of factors go into play.

I think the most obvious one would be if my contacts had gotten their phones confiscated by authorities, consequently leading a trail back to me.

  11. I can't help but stare at my screen and wonder where the common sense to answer that yourself went.

  12. Yes but thats not enough for a warrant

  13.
    Laws don't always make sense.

Of all people, you (a pot smoker) should understand that. Of course I can use common sense answer this myself, but that doesn't mean I will be correct. Nor does it mean that it requires no validation.

Clearly I was wrong to ask here.

  14. It entirely depends on how they receive it though. If they busted a dealer and saw your text on his phone, in my experience they wouldn't do anything as you would have nothing do to with your dealers trafficking case.

If you say committed an armed robbery and they were doing an investigation, it's possible they could go through your phone records (& and just about everything else) and ding you with any violation of the law possible.

But really, they can't go far in court without the evidence. The jury will be asking where it is. I presume it's just a fine for intention to purchase, if that's even a law lol.

  15. Unless you say something that refers to weed I don't think they would be able to do anything and even if you did they probably won't care Sent from my iPod touch using Grasscity Forum

    Alright, thank you.

    I appreciate the insight.

  17. I use an unlocker on my phone. One button...and fuck you piggy, get a warrant. My guy uses terms like:
    You need bud
    For fire
    Exo only
    Got some good regs

    And I use terms like

    Yeah, take a half.
    Take a q.
Ain't that seedy shit your boy had is it. I couldn't even catch a buzz off that shit.

Fuck cops. Know your rights. They can't search your phone without a warrant if it's locked. But if you get pulled for texting man up and pay the fine. No sense fucking with him when you fucked up.

SWIM got pulled for talking on his phone. Paid his 135 without argument. Told the cop he was sorry, wouldn't do it again and thanked him for stopping him from doing something so stupid as talking while he was driving....

But he wasn't even on his phone... SWIM got lucky that the cop couldn't tell it was an iolite v2., and never asked why he was doing 70 down the freeway with all his windows down. so he kept his mouth shut and didn't argue and took the charge. Lol

  18. Idk why youre overthinking it so much im going to be completely honest with you, cops do no give a fuck about you, i dont mean this in an offensive way but youre nothing to them, only way theyre going to waste their time is if you live in bumbfuck nowhere where they have nothing better to do

  19. idk man but just delete your messages

  20.
I'm not over-thinking anything, it's a simple question. The only reason this thread continued this far is because the first handful of people who "answered" gave answers for a totally different question.

It's not about whether cops give a fuck. It's about whether some bored cop decides to give me shit and I know my rights or not.
