Can Weed Take Away from Appetite?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by lilish4, Jan 7, 2013.

  1. I know that for cancer patients or for people with a bad illness, ganja helps their appetite so that they can eat. Obviously, the munchies help them out. When I smoke, just like you, I get really hungry. But for some reason, when I am sober, I really do not have much of an appetite. I'm not depressed or anything, I just am never hungry anymore. I'm not some health freak either, im about 5'11 and 210 lbs.
When I eat when Im high I can eat for hours, but recently, I just have no appetite sober. I talked to one of my stoner buddies and he says that weed has the same effect on him sometimes. We all know weed can boost your appetite, but can it in effect take it away when your sober? :hippie:

  2. It regulates your body and puts you at a healthy weight when eating the oil. But even smoking can do that a bit, not as much though. The less you eat and the healthier the food, the longer you live. Think of your body like a machine.

  3. I forget the specifics of it (damn anatomy classes) but marijuana evokes the feelings of hunger in an individual, so much so that daily users stop producing the hormone/neurotransmitter that causes that feeling of hunger. So when you are sober, it takes a few days of sobriety to have your body start producing that hormone again because it didn't have to when you smoked weed more often.

    Its normal

  4. Ha that makes sense. Sitting after like 3 weeks of smoking everyday and haven't eaten all day, and I'm still not hungry.

  5. On my tolerance breaks I find that I am not necessarily hungry, but I want specific nutrition, such as protein, or carbohydrates. But it certainly isn't the same as hunger.

  6. that makes a ton of sense... urghh it sucks though I wanna eat but I just cant

  7. it'll last a few days at most, you'll be good my man.

are you taking a tolerance break?

  8. Hmm, makes sense...

  9. Start working out, soon you'll be craving lots of food.

  10. yeah a short one if you can even call it that. Only for like a week and a half
