Just curious. When can and can't a female plant hermie? Hypothetical. I'm vegging indoors. 3 weeks into veg and 18/6 light cycle. My lights are running perfectly. Then at the end of week 3 I accidentally leave a light on outside the grow room for 5 hours. That light seeps into the grow room where several plants recieve a little of that light during "lights out." Only happens once but will/can that have any effect of a healthy, good genetic as far as potential hermying later on in it's life? Hypothetical #2 Same situation only we're in week 3 or 4 or 5 or whatever in FLOWER. Can a small amount of light penetrating the tent or grow space for a few hours one time one cause or potentially cause a plant to hermie? Or does a "light leak" need to be relatively continuous over a period of days or weeks to really affect a good genetic and force it to hermie? Is it ever too late or early in a plants life for it to hermie? For example, if I have a 65 day strain and at day 59 my timer breaks and turns on and off constantly without me knowing it for the last 5 or 6 days will it even have time to affect the plant in a negative way? Thanks all! - Todd
it really is about the change in intensity, When you go from the sun being 15 inches from them to a full moon intensity( a street light, or a small switch that is illuminated on a control panel etc) the plants can still do their thing. BTW some plants just hermie despite light changes/intensities...natures way of making sure life continues.
