can trichomes cause a leaf to burn?

Discussion in 'Indoor Cannabis Growing' started by whats that smel, Sep 22, 2006.

  1. one of my plants has been in flower now for a few weeks and is absolutely covered in trichomes (?) all over the leaves , but where they are colecting on the leaves the leaves are yellowing, the photos do not show how many trichomes there are on the leaves it looks like someone has got a handfull of icing sugar and thrown it at the plant, i was going to flush it as i thought it could also be a build up of salts or something. The plant is 14" from the light and there are no heat issues.

  2. Plant looks great. What strain? Probably just the trichs. You have a while to go because the pistils are still white. What does the microscope say? Just to make sure, what is the humidity in the room?

  3. Hi, and thanks for the reply the strain is durga mata (thc 16-20%) and apart from me having loads of males i have really enjoyed growing, it is very forgiving of mistakes over/underwatering e.t.c and seems very resistant to pests as this is the plant that i had mentioned in a previous post that had mites, so had been slung up a corner in my back garden, i read on uk420 (i think) that an 1 oz was got off one in a windowsill in the u.k and it also can take a hell of a kicking as i butchered one of my hermies the other day, i chopped every branch off as they had mainly pollen sacs, then removed the male bits from the top (not carefully) plonked it under a 30w fluoro (grolux) and the next day it had already started growing new leaves and continued to grow throught the day until i pulled it yesterday, as i was going to keep it and just keep chopping the pollen sacs off, but i figured it wasn't worth it with the pollen sac/flower ratio, my snake has my humidity gauge at the minute but before i put it in i left it in the grow box and it ranged from between 45-60%, and i have yet to order my microscope or jewellers loupe i shall have a look on ebay in a bit, and my temps are 73 and then 75 at 12" from bulb with cental heating on i also wondered if it could be lumen burn but i didn't think it would be at 12" as i have got as close as 7" and nothing happened, i just wasn't comfortable with the plant being so close to the bulb, i did have a small problem with black fly but i put a load of zebra spiders(hunt by sight) and a few other little orb weavers around to catch the rest, i added a few pieces of egg box and stuff for them to hide but the zebra spiders go under plant pot rims and orb weavers go under the leaves, i have started to catch them and let them go as i have seen no black fly for a week now, does it need flushing yet or how do i know when to flush as i was just going to flush two weeks before harvest and then just give it water
    up until it is harvested.
    cheers

  4. gotta love u + your critters:) u raise spiders too? lol.....yr plants look good:D

  5. thanks, i currently have a goliath birdeater (gordon), salmon pink birdeater(shelob) and a chile rose (gladys) ( in my spider collection i did have more but had to get rid of a few when i got my snakes which are a african rock python(sportacus), boa constrictor (rotten robbie) and a corn snake (snakey jakey) and as well as that i have a water monitor (still havn't named him yet) and savannah monitors (vic and bob), i do like to have a lot of normal housespiders to around the home as it saves on pesticides which i don't like to use around my animals so i will feed any i see one of the spiders crickets to make sure they are healthy and breeding,

  6. Yo man.
I just grew a Durga Mata grow. I have the link if you are interested. Your plants actually look better than mine LoL.

  7. hi, that link would be really appreciated, i have really enjoyed growing it, and my only complaint would be the amount of males i got but saying that i will definately have a few in my next grow because of how hardy they seem to be, i have also read that when you have put it in to 12/12 for 2 weeks it will not reveg, it will continue to flower regardless of the lightcycle whether it is 18/6 or whatever is that true for all strains? and would adversely affect the flowering if it was on 18/6? i have a hermie i threw in the bin 2 days ago i am going to pull it out and grow it well away from the others on 18/6 and see if it goes back to veg or flowers and dies if it's going in to veg will the flowers and pollen sacs still remaining begin to shrivel up?
oh, and thanks again for the link
    cheers

  8. No problem Mat here is the link. http://forum.grasscity.com/general-...bagseed-grow-w-pics.html?highlight=Durga+mata
Once you put it in 12/12 you CAN go back to 18/6 and it will stop flowering. I don't know a single strain that you can't re-veg except for the auto flowering strains. Those flower no matter the light cycle. I would like to see pics of the hermie. Once a hermie always a hermie unless there are just a few male flowers that you can pick off. As you said, keep them far away from the girls because they could pollinate them. If you grow the hermie, providing it was a mostly female plant with just a few male sacks, collect the pollen of the male flowers and use it to pollinate a separate fully female plant. The resulting seeds on the fertilized female will be feminized (all female). Take care Mat, Matt

  9. your plants look fucking sexy. i wouldnt even bother about those specs....atleast your buds are growing > : (

  10. thanks for the replys, and thanks for the link, i will try and make some feminized seeds as the hermie is still alive despite the 2 days in the bin i will post the pics in a bit
    cheers
