  1. Mieemclux 1500W LED Grow Light with Reflector, Daisy Chained Design Full Spectrum LED Plant Growing Light with Triple-Chips for All Indoor Plants (Bloom & Veg Switch) White

Right now i have a Hydro Planet 150w HPS in an 4x6 room. You think throwing in this other cheap LED along with the HPS ill be able to grow 3-4 plants instead of just one?

  2. No because that light does not output 1500W. Check out quantum boards if you want the best result

  3. So if I glanced at it correctly...its an ACTUAL watts of 265 with veg and bloom on....if you add that to your HPS...yes, id say you could grow 3 nice plants with that.

With that said......I agree with maddgrower that QB's are probably better than the light you are asking about.....but the light you are asking about will work for you.....IMO

  4. Great, thats what i like to hear. Mind telling me the difference betweens QBs and standard led grow lights?

  5. I am not the one best qualified to answer that......the "difference" is usually between blurples LED lights like Mars and ViparSpecta ....and QB's.....something about better diodes and same intensity with half the electricity....again, I am not completely sure....maybe @JoshuaE or @Tbone Shuffle can better lay it out for you.

  7. the CREE COBS and the COB sunshine full spectrum lights are very well priced looks like natural light (not blurples) but runs full spectrum 320-800 nm they run at 300 actual watts they too can be daisy chained but you dont need that for your space i will say QBS are the most efficient more powerful high quality lights available right now

  8. You can do much better than that low efficiency blurple

  9. Led and hps is a good way to fill the room up or boards whatever u can afford. I have 5 mars hydro and a 1000 watt hps/metal halide. Does wonders. Im in a 6×6 . the more light u have the bigger buds u can achieve if u have the knowledge to grow. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

  10. Most of those older style burple panels are using single led diodes of 3/5/or 10 watts. Those single led diodes are now an older design to use. You won't usually see them running at full power because they are prone to thermal runaway and hard to cool at their max power.

If you look at that led array you'll see it's 10 x 15 in number of leds. That's where they get the 1500w. It's 150 10 watt diodes. It says right there in the specs that it's 260 watts max draw. That's about 20% max rated power of the leds. They can't run them much harder. I had some older burples that would run the leds at about 60% rated power.

The difference between those and 30mm cree cobs or the samsung 301b diodes is those are not single diodes. If you look closely you can tell they're a grid of very small leds printed on a miniature circuit board like the transistors on a cpu. This has really increased the efficiency of output and decreased the potential for thermal runaway among other things. Most of these lights were designed to replace white fluorescent lighting in commercial and industrial application so they come in a similar variety of K ranges. K rating for lighting is almost the same thing as a spectral rating. Pretty much the higher the K rating the more blue leaning the white light is. The lower the K rating the more red the light is.

Burple lights work by mixing together different parts of the spectrum to make a reasonably full light but they are full of holes and often completely leave out green/yellow or other parts of the spectrum. White lights that follow the par spectrum curve closely and lately teamed up with far red and deep red supplements are proving to grow with the highest g/watt efficiency right now.

With the DIY kits and boards along with alibaba copying the design the price per watt of high end led grow light has came way down. It's typically $1 or less a watt now. In the last few years some of the higher end led companies were as expensive as 2-3$ a watt and it scared off many people especially when those earlier lights didn't back that up with as much performance as the lights now do.

If you're on a budget then I would probably just go with kingbright at alibaba. They are copying many other companies designs but they seem to be making a great product for the price and if you're counting up change to put together a setup you can't beat them right now. If you have some money to put at the setup then it's better to go with name brand HLG or similar reputable boards. Alibaba doesn't have the best reliability record though I haven't heard of problems with kingbright in particular yet. That was actually the same site many cob builders got their parts from when cob building was more popular. Kingbright had all the lenses/holders/heat sinks/ect.

Hard to tell how large your space is. Looks like about 3x3. Try one of these out. Forget about the amazon light. You won't be happy with that purchase. It's not even all that cheap.

    Get 3500k whites.

  11. Tbone dropped the mic! This guy is a sparky expert!! Just feel lucky he is here to help! We were all rookies once upon a time!! My 2 cents forget hps and use Hortilux cmh if u want to use bulbs. I feel the only lights that can compete with the Qbs

  13. Unless you have a pretty open space you won't be able to cool that thing. An open hood 600 watt is almost useless in a tent. You need a cooltube or a vented rectangular to have a hope at controlling temps with that in a tent.

  14. Im currently running a 600w mh/hps with a vented rectangular hood in a 4ftx4ftx8ft. I also have a 440cfm fan exhausting the tent. If I want temps below 80-82 when the light is on i need to run the fan on high.

  15. Depends on where you're at and the climate but a 4x4 is a little large for a 600. Most HPS growers would say 600 in a 3x3 and a 1000 in a 4x4. Two 600's in a 5x5.

  16. Vented hood is also best case. Do you think you could cool that thing with an open hood in the same space? Most good vented hoods cost almost as much as that fixture.

  17. My space is 6x4 and 9ft height. I plan on putting better ventilation in very soon. Always have fans running. Currently running a 150hps and 250 led in that space. Might run all 3 lights at once or just the 250 led and 600hps if i decide to buy it.

  18. Most likely yeah, especially with the size of the exhaust fan, I wouldnt want to though. The glass on the hood is cool to the touch with the bulb being about 2 inches from it. Its by no means a great quality hood but does the job came as a kit.

I will say I wish I never bought this light. I have been growing for a crop and a half with it and already swapping it out. You live and you learn.
