Can over watering slow down growth?

  1. Besides yellow or drooping leaves, can over watering also slow down growth at all?

  2. Sure, anything that stresses the plant can slow things down.

  3. Overwatering can kill a plant. Just stick your finger in the soil about an inch and if its dry, water. Plants need to breath through their roots so overwatering is probably the most common way people kill their plants.

  4. Don't use the finger in the soil test to check if your plants need water. That only really works when the plants are in very small containers. The best way to check if your plants need water is to just lift the pot itself. Know what the pot feels like when it is full of dry soil, and when it is full of wet soil. There is a drastic difference, and with a little practice, you shouldn't have to worry about over watering any more. The main problem with sticking your finger in the soil, is that the top layer of soil could easily be dryed out, especially if it is under HI lighting, but there can still be plenty of moisture deeper in the buckets, where the roots are. If the top feels dry, and you water, than overwatering will be an issue, ahich can lead to many other issues, which can lead to death to your plants. Nobody wants that.......
