Can my two plants still be salvaged?

I have neglected two of my plants. I ran out of soil and I could only put them into these two buckets. The buckets are probably a little over a gallon of dirt. They are 8 inches tall but absolutely root bound and so far behind on growth.

Would It be pointless to plant them into 2 CF of soil at this time? They are probably about 50 days old right now. They are still growing but so slowly, I assume I should put them into the ground yes. But would that mess anything up? I doubt I'll harvest much bud if i keep them in these tiny buckets.
