im very new at growing indoors, but have had major success growing outdoors. Ive heard that you can start the seed on a 12/12 light cycle and the plant will skip its vegetative growth. Is this true? and i also heard that if you start a 12/12 you will get 1 gram per 1 watt used. Are any of these true?
You have to let the seedling grow a little first before a 12 12 cycle is introduced and the watts per gram is not correct thier are so many factors that go into yeild. You will get far less yeild indoors than outside exscpecially being a newbie.
im hoping to grow 4-6 plants, and i would like to keep them very small. 100 watt light, its all i have due to lack of money at the moment
HPS CFL ... I can tell you to grow six plants you will need at least 6 times more than that if cfl or fluros I suggest cfl's because that is what I use and they work great cheap and a good starting place for indoor grows. Also do NOT use Miracle grow it will creat problems!!

dude mg grow will stunt growth. I tried to grow my babies in mg soil three month release and in about a month it grew a inch and a half until I mixed it with about four times the amount with cheap soil from the dollar store. I am on a bad budget too but I have 8 23 watt cfl bulbs and thatis just putting out enough light. Where are you planning to grow closet, basement, attic, etc..?
I doubt they sell any soil you would want at the dollar store, if any at all. And make sure you're using the real watts, not equivalent watts. I bet you're 100W bulb is really only 23-26W. You're going to want 300 watts minimum for 6 plants.
well acctually I used the dollar store soil mixed with mg because the mg soil had so much nute but my plant is loving it but I rather use fox farm and you could prob get 4 23 watt daylight for veg bulbs for about 8 bucks at walmart but lowes will sell you bigger bulbs thier.
Not until your plant has matured. Keep in mind that it will take nearly 6 weeks for a plant to mature. It can in fact start to flower before but you risk running into more problems in flowering i.e. herm, lower yields, and quite possibly improper growth. However if your just looking to score an ounce or two for your efforts go for it. With a green thumb most anything can be done
alright i can do 8 bucks, just not the super expensive supplies, due to michigans shitty economy, i was laid off under Seasonal unemployment (AKA - fired), also after i weed out the males could i switch quickly to 12/12 with the 2-3 females i hope to get, i dont want a HUGE harvest, just a tester grow to see what i could expect with simple supplies
yes but I suggest you let the plany get three new sets of leaves because then you will get enough yeild to make it worth an it will only add 1 to 2 weeks. I suggest you get soft white because you are switching to flowering so soon. I got laid off too it sucks dick!!!
Well, it sounds possible to skip vegetative growth, but...why the hell would you want to??? Your plant won't have any size and it will only have 1 bud on it if you don't grow vegetatively first.
it is worth it if you have like a basement full of a bunch of little plants flowering you might only get a couple grams from each plant but if you have 700 plants that is a shit ton of weed grown in a short amount of time turning you profite quicker!!!
It's funny, you said you are alot of experience growing outdoors but don't seem to have a handle on any of the basics. Indoor or outdoor many principals are the same. I'm not trying to bash you, but there's tons of tutorials stickied in the indoor growing thread that'll explain lighting and many of the basics to get you started much quicker than waiting for people to reply to your posts. good luck.
