Can anything bad happen if you store your weed in the fridge in a mason jar?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by jvsdiojisio, Jan 6, 2014.

  1. Or is it 100 percent safe? Also what happens if weed freezes (different question) Is it still okay once it heats up and turns back to its original state?

  2. as long as it is sufficiently dry, it won't freeze in the jar. it will keep humidity out and keep the weed fresh ;)

  3. Freezing could be bad because water freezes and subsequently has to melt, could increase risk of mold development.

  4. So if I put it in amass

So if it's in the mason jar is there any need to put it in the fridge?

  5. not really. as long as it's properly dried and cured, the jar and a cool, dark closet will suffice.

  6. +1 for mold risk. Sanitize your jar first. Make sure buds are properly dried and cured. Seal the jar up tight. Keep it in a cool dark place. 60-70degrees F (recommended). And whammo, preserved nuggies. They last a pretty good while. It's always a good idea to burp your jar every day for a little while to assist with drying if it's still too wet.

The stability of cannabis and its preparations on storage.      (abst – 1976)

"It is concluded that carefully prepared herbal or resin cannabis or extracts are reasonably stable for 1 to 2 years if stored in the dark at room temperature."

"Carefully prepared" means properly dried, and put gently into an air-tight glass container, and stored in the dark.

The trichs that hold the THC become brittle when frozen, so bumping frozen weed around is not a good idea. but if is isnt't going to be bumped a lot, no prob.

  8. Good call about the freezing trichs. just like the ice cube hash bag hash making method (what a mouthful)... freezing them doesnt hurt them but they fall right off the buds. maybe a new way of collecting keif here... lol
