All i know about those heat mats, is if you get one, you should get some sort of rheostat for it. My experience with it (I had the same one) is that it got about twice as hot as i needed it. I work a hearth supply store, so i just snatched a dial-a-temp, but i'm sure you can find something cheaper online.
