Can a sprout survive if part of the root was broken?

  1. I had to separate a twin (I got two stems from one seed) and ended up pulling about an inch or so off the root to get them separated. Normally I would just plant it and see, but I'm repotting tonight and would rather not waste the soil if there's no chance for survival.

  2. Just last week I had to transplant 2 seedlings from their little cups into bigger pots and I couldn't just tip it over so I cut the bottoms of the cups out and I cut off some roots, they still survived.

  3. If it is really just a sprout (no leaves, no root development) then I wouldn't waste the soil.......

  4. It may not survive but yes there is absolutely a chance it would make it.

  5. Roots are very good at regenerating. If you have any rooting compound that might help but in general I would say yes its worth the attempt. Just make sure to give it a little extra water because it may have a hard time absorbing any for the next few days.
