Can a plant go without water for 5 days in my climate?

  1. In 90-95 dry weather could I go 5 days without watering if I were to move my plants in partial shade and water them really good before I leave? And use mulch.

A little bit early but I'm doing some research for my grow next year.

  2. Not very likely in 95 degree weather. Depends mostly on the amount of foliage on the plant at the time of the hot weather. In most places in the US the plant would be fairly large by the time it got to 95 and the plant would transpire a lot of water in the heat.

  3. it could POSSIBLY work. if you REALLY are worried about it though, you can make up some sort of drip system, that will water for you every day. thats the easiest and safest way.

  4. It's a guerrilla grow though, unless I can buy a cheap reservoir thingy somewhere.

And pointswest, it would be around July and I would have started my plant in early May. So it would probably be around a few feet tall.

The first couple of weeks after transplant from 1gal to 5 gal my plants go 9-10 days between watering, but after a couple of pinches and branching that cycle is more like 3-5 days depending on temps. You could use a few gal milk jugs or the 2.5 gal water jugs with a few small holes to slowly water over a few days by drip. If your plants are in the ground and not in pots they will last longer between watering than in pots. When you have to leave for this long make sure the soil is soaked to capacity when leaving unattended for long periods.

  6. They'd be in 7 gallon pots. That milk jug idea sounds good though.
