Hello Blades, somewhat of a n00b to these forums so forgive me if I posted in the wrong place. I'm sure this answer is out there somewhere, I've just never seen it clearly asked and answered. Through good care and growing, is it possible to grow a plant that is more potent than the plant the seed came from? I realize you can't grow headies from a mid seed, but just in general.
If you grow it right it will almost always be more potent than the stuff it came from. If you grow a seed and make sure it doesn't get pollenated by a male, then it will almost always be more potent under similar conditions. Think of it like this, the weed this came from had to use the energy to grow the seed instead of producing weed and resin. More energy went into making that seed. So if you take that seed and then grow it out and don't let it get prego then it puts all its energy into bud and resin. Any seed you have will be more potent if it's not producing seeds. So unless you got a re-re seed then you should be good to go. The reality is that if you take the shittiest weed you've smoked and grow a seed there's a really good chance that if it's not producing seeds and is dried and cured right it will be some good bud. Most plants have the potential to be quite good. Different, but still good. It comes to genetics with that though. You can't make crappy weed into a cannabis cup winner, but you can make it better with the proper care.
Yes you can you and its been done. You have to use more advanced growing techniques and such, you have to treat the grow like you would if you were working with quality genetics, better lights, ro water mabe, ect. Make sure the grow room is conducive to growing quailty cannabis if your indoors. But honestly i would say if the genetics are not there to begin with theres only so much you can do as the grower to increase quality of the bud beyond what the mother plants were; in short quality genetics produce high quality meds. What are your goals for your grow? If your new to the forum, you should start a grow journal. A lot of really knowledegable people on here who can be of great help!
Bag seed usually comes from decent plants that had some problems and ended up going hermaphrodite. If the seeds are growing properly, they'll produce a proper example of the original plant, which will be better than what you got originally.
Moral of the story is yes you can but baby the hell out of the plants lol. Decent genetics is the way to go but bag seed is extra weed from the batch you bought if you have the room.
