Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by Cwmoore577, May 2, 2020.

  1. This plants been quite the struggle and I can’t seem to pinpoint what exactly is wrong.

    Symptoms:
Red petioles & thin new growth around the developing flowers.

Orange/rust spots & “cloudy” spots popping up both at the top and middle fan leaves

It droops more than my other plants when lights go off as well. I know that can be normal.

    My setup:
Strain: Zkittlez auto in 3 gallon smart pots with Royal Gold Tupur mix (coco)

Environment: 2x4 tent, exhaust and intake fan, 1x oscillating fan. Temps steady 75-77°F, Humidity 55-60%

Light: Series 2+ Red Spec LED 250 watt (BudgetLED) dimmed to about 80% and at 16-18” above canopy.

Watering: 2 to 3x daily from dripper stakes (handwatering every 3-4 days to make sure salts don’t buildup in spots) using GH FloraSeries and H3ad’s formula. I use RO water bought from the store.
    6ml/gal FloraMicro
    9ml/gal FloraBloom
    1g Epsom salt
    Ph to 5.8
    EC 1.0 - 1.1
    700 ppm

Which should give me (in ppm)
    N 98
    P 64
    K 113
    Mg 70
    Ca 98
    S 63

Last couple waterings I’ve dropped the FloraMicro to 4.5ml/gal and added 0.5ml/gal CalMag which would be
    N 76
    P 64
    K 109
    Mg 71
    Ca 78
    S 63

My other plant is watered from the same source and doesn’t show the same issues.

I’ve also spotted springtails in my runoff water. Sprayed some green cleaner on the top a few day ago to try to control them from getting out of hand.

  2. Maybe up the cal mag a bit and reduce the PPMs a bit; looks like it’s a dark green which would mean its pretty well fed.

  3. This may help you out - Plant Doctor - Diagnose Your Plants! | Grow Weed Easy

The funky cupoed leaves at the top of your plant appear to be a heat stress issue - maybe. Have you tried raising the light a little?

The yellowing spots dont look like a real big deal but could be a Ca deficiency or common leaf septoria - just keep an eye on it.

    good luck

  5. I use General Hydroponics FloraSeries and used the cannastats nutrient calculator to get those ppm values.

I did see the red petioles and thought about upping P before. I’m not sure how to get a higher P with out raising the K as well. Would that matter?

  8. I’ve been adding 1g/gal Epsom salt just about every time.

I try to follow the formula as close as I can which recommends cutting out the floramicro about half way through flower so it’s close to when I should be cutting the nitrogen anyway.

Do you think I should cut nitrogen completely or still leave some in there and if so, what ppm range?

Also if I try to raise P which would raise K, how much K is too much ?

here’s some more pictures with the light on as well..

  10. How the hell did you manage to get springtails in coco mate?
How the hell did you manage to get bugs there at all??
That's pretty unusual like. 99% of bugs come loaded with the soil. You ain't got soil though lol.
You got some tomatoes in soil or something daft like that in the tent?

Also your maths doesn't sound right bud.
You said you raised the calmag yet the ca went down by almost 20% and the mg only rose by literally 001ppm?
What's the Epsom salts for too?
That generally causes dramas whenever it's mentioned. Patchy spots on the mid growth that look like cal def.

  11. The math should be fine. The floramicro has calcium in it so when I drop that and add only 0.5ml/gal CalMag it ends up with a bit less.

The gist of H3ad’s formula is 6ml FloraMicro and 9ml FloraBloom throughout Veg which would give you low Mg (around 44ppm I think it was). If you add calmag to that to raise the Mg, it would likely lead to too much N and Ca. So he recommended using Epsom to get Mg.

    explained here:
H3ad goes Coco - Page 32 - Growing in Coco Coir - International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums
I am new to this formula so not sure if it’s worth it or not, I know a lot have vouched for it.
My other plant seems to be loving it.
This one however, is getting worse quickly..
This leaf was nearly fine yesterday

as for the springtails, hell if I know. I had the bag stored in the garage so maybe there? I also have a dog so maybe from him. Who knows?
