Calling UK growers

    No affense intended to any other country.

    Just wanted to know, as I live in the UK, from UK growers what kind of soil and water are you using.

    I have started off with Miracle Grow for first potting and ordinary tap water. Despite using both, they are growing well.:hello:

    hmm problem with miracle grow is that some types have slow release nutes which can kill your plants,for mine i just got some john innes no4 from wilkos and also some vermiculite (like pearlite) to space the soil out and catch water. seems to be working fine, so if its not too late to transplant id say might be an idea to swap it to some non slow-release nutrient soil.

    Hi there EC,
    UK grower here :wave:
    I use john innes no.2 soil, perelite and vacumilite. I do a 3 part soil, 1 part perelite, 1 part vacumilite mix. Works good for me :D
    The water is use is RO water, tap water that goes through a 9 part reverse osmosis system.

    b&q multi-purpose compost,6 quid for 150 litres,mixed with perlite and some gravel,and sainsburys mineral water,mixed with concentrated lemon juice because the waters ph is 7.4

    B&Q Peat-free potting compost.
    B&Q Sterilised topsoil
    Perlite & Vermiculite

    60% compost / 20% topsoil / 20% Perl&Verm

    Oh, and chicken-poo, but that's a secret.

    I use tap water that's been left to stand for 24 hours.

    I put mine under proper light in cupboard, after being under a ordinary 100w bulb in my utility room. In that short amount of time (6 hrs) they have shot up.

    Before reading this, last night I topped up the soil in the pots and gave them a small amount of water.

    This morning, they have grown again. Took some water from the tap last night and left it in the room with the plants, so it's room temp.
    Gave them a good water this am, but not going to water them again for a day or two.

    My babies are 7 days old. Have 4 leaves. The last two leaves being the classic lookin leaves. Lookin like the same strain.

    Despite the mirracle grow they are doing very well. All the same, as quite alot of you are using simular ingrediants, I think I will change over. After all you guys know your stuff an I'm only startin out.

    I would be very grateful if anyone PM private with some details of a decent seed source.
    Don't know what strain I am growing. The seeds were given to me and are a different mix an no idea of age. Prob why they are growing at different rates.
