Callin all stoners: Job Help

Discussion in 'Experienced Cannabis Enthusiasts' started by damienr, Mar 9, 2007.

  1. So heres my deal, i know im not a veteran poster like most of you but ive watched the boards for awhile now so I know the routine. Heres my deal, I graduated high school and currently attend Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. Its a nice small school where im majoring in Business Administration, 3.6 GPA as of right now and im doing fine. However... im the kind of person whose not easily satisfied, so when I start to think about what I want to do with my life on graduation day... because im not necessarily the businessman type...

Im artistic, extremely outgoing, real good at working with my hands rather than number, a huge people person. Strengths in classes like psychology, sociology, english, rather than mathematics.. however with a decent professor I could pick up math quickly.

I have a long-term girlfriend who as of right now (not jinxing anything) could be the girl I want to marry. I just know that I want to be financially secure to support a wife and kids one day.

And I have no idea what job direction to take.. so I was curious about your work.. or any advice you have for me as far as a good profession to pursue. Thanks for any help/advice.

  2. You could really be whatever you'd want to be; instead of asking a group of stoners, it would probably be in your best interest to talk to your college counselor or even check out the College board site.

I decided to be a Registered Nurse and then become an Anesthesologist and make bank but I like helping people, I'm a male and nurses are in high demand. Anesthesia will then offer me a higher salary and even more jobs! Hopefully it'll all work out

  3. You're down at Sacred heart, lovely school I wanted to go there actually! Go into pyschology as a researcher, there's some money

  4. yeah i like it, small n quaint however i was considering transferring to northeastern in boston to be closer to home (cape cod, ma)

i thought about taking the medical/dental route but that much schooling just isn't for me right now.. i kind of want to just hit the work world and start working hard, saving up, that sort of thing

edit: by the way, i figured id ask you guys because there are a lot of intelligent people on here.. especially those who support their habit and are still successful... i have done the college counselor thing, i have done collegeboard, ive searched the internet and read books, trust me ive done the research... i just cant seem to find anything that really really interests me. i was considering real estate. my best friends father owns his own real estate agency and gets to make a lot of his own hours/loves what he does/ has a lot of family time... being a real estate salesman or something like that wont get me the kind of cash i want =o/

  5. I always wanted to do something I love, I'm one of those people, and I don't really care how much I make, because I'm handsome enough, I'll just marry an earner.

So, I'm applying for park ranger positions, because I like being outdoors and hiking, I think I would enjoy doing that every day. I also like to brew beer, because I love beer, and I love the science, and all the different things you can change about it. You start to notice all these subtle differences that will change it dramatically in the end, like growing weed. I'm just brewing out of my garage right now, but I'm starting to brew dynamite brews, and one day, I hope to own my own brewery. Brewing takes only a couple hours a week right now, while I do something more practical with my time and show up to my shitty job on time.

Entrepreneur is the way to go personally, I also get pissed when someone tells me what to do, so its for the best.

I'd say, see if you can turn your hobby into a job. Find the thing you enjoy doing, and then go out and find a job where you do that. Just whatever you do, always keep that dream man, work towards it on your days off. You might have to get a job where your sitting behind a desk all day, signing papers and reading drafts of drafts for business advancement, so that you can support yourself and your lovely woman. But when you've made enough money, take that risk and do what you want.

Cause, dude, its your life, you only get one I think, and a life after death isn't guaranteed, so you should spend your time wisely. Do something you love, find someone you love, travel the world, and die in your sleep.

  6. I'm not sure if we're the people to be asking but it sounds like with your strengths in several different fields you could have many different jobs. Personally, I think it would be cool to be a psychologist, but that's just me. Anyway, I hope that you figure out what you want to do and that it makes you happy. Best of luck with college, your girl, and your future. Peace

  7. You should go find a nice Gas Station.

You seem like a real good dude from your post, it would be a joy for you to pump my gas ;)
