California I.D. and Cannabis

    I recently got my medical card and I decided to go to my first club with my friend so he could get a referral. Anyway when I got there I had my passport and a medical cannabis identification card thing they gave me, and my actual card. The person at the front told me I needed a California I.D. like a driver's license or an I.D. card. This kind of bummed me out because it can take like a month to get those cards in the mail (I don't have my license yet). They said after the first time I could start using my passport or medical cannabis I.D. card but I needed my California I.D. to start there. Keep in mind I also have a California driving permit (papers stapled together with a black & white photo of me). My question really is are all places like this or are there probably clubs and clinics I can go and use the means of identification I have currently. And yes I plan to get my license I just don't like the wait. :(

    All I have been to require the CA DL to get in the system.

    That's stupid. What is the point, if you have all of these other forms of identification? If it's proof of residency, then shouldn't a rental lease/mortgage receipt be valid for that? What makes a DL so special in California?

    most of the ones ive been to need a california id.i would call to the ones youre thinking of going to beforehand and ask
