Calibrating pH meter without buffer

  1. How can I calibrate a pH meter without the supplied buffer? I use a POIT pH meter. Thank you.

  2. a crutch is a crutch no matter what you call it

buffer sol. should be at your local drug store

  3. In theory, distilled water should have a pH of 7.0 at 77°F. My tap water, from the city of Detroit, has a pH of 7.0 99.9% of the time too, at room temp.

  4. Thank you, I use distilled water to try to calibrate to 7.0 but still not happy. It looks like pH buffer solution is the only option.

  5. Yup. Only way I've seen to calibrate properly
I use a 7.0 and a 4.0 buffer every time I calibrate as proper ph is critical
