Buying First Grow Box

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by UofABudMan, Feb 21, 2010.

  1. Hello Everyone.

I'm going to be be buying my first Stealth Grow Box soon and have about $4500 to spend on it. I've been looking at this one Super Closet Side By Side. It will cost $4,160 after shipping and a C02 system added on it. How many plants do you think could really fit in this and how hard will it be to operate? This will be my first grow. Anyone have any better suggestions on a better one or maybe a couple smaller ones that will be most cost effective and hold more bigger and taller plants?? I really dont feel like building my own.

    Thanks =]

  2. One more big question. Also how well will this contain the smell? There are some people i just dont want to know im growing. Do ozone generators work good for smell?

  3. im kinda liek u

for $4500 you can build a awesome custom fit box for your house, that is super stealth, which is 100 times better then those premade ones.

So dont be stupid, buy a book, and read it 10 times before you spend anything.

And really really think about a awesome spot for it.

spend the money on noise control, heat control, moisture control, odor control.

$4500 can get you a Fucking nice room. Building is the fun part!

  6. if i was going to build my own what is a lsit all the parts and equipment that i would need?
    what book should i buy?

Amazon.com: Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible (9781878823236): Jorge Cervantes: Books

Never tell any supplier what your doing, or dont ever ask a supplier for their advice.

You you will need to find a perfect spot for your setup. Try to make it secret, like behind a book shelf, or a secrect door in your basement. Make it so, that if someone stands in front of it, they wont figure out whats behind it.

Then figure out heat control. Owens Corning has tones of great products.

Then take care of moisture with humidity control.

Line the walls in some reflective sheets. Take care of odor and heat with sufficient ventilation and filtration. IF you have problems keeping the temps under 70F, look into a water chiller.

Pick, soil, DWC, Aeroponics, or what ever method yo want to use. ( read the book )

Setup up the room that you have a mother plant, clones, and flowering.

You can use MDF, or any type of material that you see fit for your setup. MDF is good for noise reduction.

If you read the book, it will give you a really good idea of what you can have made.

Use your imagination, dont post all the info on here, god knows who reads on here.

There is so many choices you have to make, make sure you do not rush it. Do it right, or dont do it at all. Reflector types, bulb type, fan types.

Like put your fans inside a box made out of MDF, put rubber pads under the mounting bracket, and hang the box with exhaust hangers.

Use insulated vents, build a muffler for the air going out side.

Seriously, all your questions should be answered if you read that book. If it is not enough buy another one. Think about it 100 times before you waste money.

I believe in you. It is not hard. Some basic ingenuity goes along way.

Get a dedicated power source, make sure your fuses dont pop and make sure its all to your local building code. Dont burn your house down cuz your to lazy to learn how to wire it all up. Or hire a electrician before you start building so everything is ready to go.

go with 220 volts, it will lower your power bill, but thats only good for HID lights, so dont plug your fans into it.

220 volts is standard for a dryer plug. Quite normal! Your just moving your dryer.

But plan your room out, and get the electrician in first. Get it all certified so your insurance cant be refused if something goes on fire.

$4500 you can have it full automated with top notch computer controls.

    EVC-1 Environmental Controller
HPH-4 High Power HID Controller ( very good for safety ) $140 is very good price. No way you can build it your self for cheaper, same quality.
    MDT-1 Master Digital Timer

Get CO2 in there. Id go with http://www.hydroinnovations.com/product2.htm

I got some mad hots for it. Make sure you got water supply for auto refill, and over flow protection.

Filter your water, ( read book )

i have no idea where or how i would hide it. there are no basements in AZ

how many plants could i fit in a 6Hx6Wx3D?

  9. Get a god dam book.

You guys blow $ on food every day.

$20 is nothing, the book is awesome and beautiful.

Do LOTS AND LOTS OF HOME WORK ON FLIR.

    Anyway, good luck!

  10. Ok ill get a book and see if that changes my mind. Its mostly that im lazy that i dont want to build one but if it will save me that much money then maybe ill put some time into building my own. thanks for the help.

to answer your question, no haha im just new to growing and am curious

  11. It will save you money compared to buying a premade overpriced box. Or it will get you a 10 times better setup compared to a premade box for the same money.

Anyways, good luck. Anything you do in life. It starts with the books. Always look for the books. Experienced people made the books to share there knowledge. Take it and improve it with time.
