I am looking to fill a 4 x 8 with 2 lights. I would like to get 2 diff. types so I can see which one I like better. I am between these options but am open to all ideas. 1. ViparspectraKS5000 500w ($399) 2. Migro Array 4 x 4 500w ($475) 3. Photontek X Pro 600w ($899) 4. Fluence SPYDR 2i 630w ($665)
880w Mammoth 8 bar. 2711umol. 3.1 efficiency. Will blast a 5 x 5 area. $800. Best light, especially for the money. Uses the latest Samsung EVO Diodes. 437nm-730nm spectrum. Heavy on Green. Spectrum is like a combination of Metal Halide/HPS. These sell as fast as they can make them. Available at the end of November. Hard to beat for $800. Also have a dimmer.
The Infinity is not quite 2000uml, and the Mammoth, is 2711umol. Mammoth also makes a 680w 6 bar, has 2095umol, for $675. Mammoth 8 bar has 3486 diodes vs only 1076 for the Infinity. The 680w Mammoth has 2592 diodes. So youre getting way way more diodes with the Mammoth. Plus the Infinity uses some Bridgelux Diodes, which Mammoth, doesnt use. Infinity also is using some didgy info. saying the Samsung EVO 301H is 3.1 efficiency, which it is, but they dont say what the overall efficiency is. Mammoth states their whole system, is 3.1 efficiency. Not just the Evo diodes.
Looks like a pretty good light from what I can tell. Should be able to do a good job. But if it wasnt on sale, and they were charging full price, no way Id pay $1000 for it.
What about a hlg blackbird for 400 I got a deal on one of those? Thank you btw for your knowledge. the opticled slim looks perfect for me. honestly and its new need to check out those mammouths too. hate waiting though
The Blackbird is a pretty good light, and for $400 is a really good price. but doesnt have the EVO Diodes. If I was going to buy a new LED, it would be mandatory that is has the EVO Mint White Diodes. And Far Red 730nm. But is still underpowered at 600w, and 1567PPF. The Mammoth 680w is almost 2100ppf. 550 more PPF, out of 80more watts. The Blackbird is 2.79 efficiency, and either of the Mammoths are 3.1. Id still preorder, and get one of the 2 the Mammoth, in 3 weeks. Go to Instagram, and check out the grows they do. They also give a lot of technical/research info. The Mammoths are also really heavy on Green. Green light is efficiently transmitted through the plant body, playing more of a role in photosynthesis than red or blue in some contexts (Sun et al., 1998), suggesting green light may prove useful as a signal to tissues not directly exposed to the light environment. 70% of GREEN Light, is absorbed. Greenlight Greenlight is a player in photosynthesis, along with the other portions of the spectrum. Greenlight is transmitted through a plant’s organs and is utilized in deeper layers of cells. It is also used in the intra-canopy leaves, which is important in dense-canopy production. In fact, the photosynthetic efficiency of green light is similar to that of red light and greater than that of blue light in the deeper layers of a leaf. Overall, plants grown under a full spectrum that includes green light tend to have thicker leaves and higher net photosynthesis. Greenlight has shown to have a positive effect on yield, particularly on fruiting crops with a long lifecycle and a multilayer canopy structure, such as tomatoes. While green LEDs have historically been less efficient at converting electricity into photons than blue or red ones, much more efficient white LEDs have been successfully used to add green light into the spectrum of grow lights.
