Buying a light online: a recipe for disaster?

Discussion in 'Advanced Growing Techniques' started by Kazamere, Feb 2, 2008.

  1. Hey fellow farmers, I want to buy a light from http://www.hydroasis.com/hy/productdetail.aspx?id=1687 but remember years ago when the Government was collection names of people buying online. Is it safe to buy online again or do I go to the local shop and pay 2x as much for an inferior product?

    Peace and chicken grease!

  2. Can't drive to a shop?

you can always order parts and build the light on your own. 1000bulbs.com has plenty of supplies.

  3. I used htgsupply.com - cheapest lights i could find.

  4. I cant put in two cents on your particular question, however I wouldnt say that anything you get at a grow shop is inferior. More expensive maybe, however your paying for immediate ownership, someone to help you make a decision, and a place to take it if something goes wrong.

  5. buying legal products online is of no reason for concern to you or the govt nor would they waste time tracking people who are only growing for their own personal use. You are small potatos and they are only looking for large operations in reality. If you buy seeds and grow supplies and get them sent to the same location that might not be smart but as long as you never have cannabis seeds ever sent to the place you grow or better yet have a friend order them for you that way you are never involved in the process. But that said many people have had grow supplies andseeds sent to their house for many year without a problem ever. Just be smart and always keep in mind you are breaking a law so keep things under the radar as much as you can. Silence is golden.

  6. If you're paranoid, one could buy ballast and bulbs at places that sell DIY stuff for saltwater reef enthusiast, I know that stony corals take MHs to grow.

    www.hellolights.com

Depending on the wattage you're after though.

  7. Thanks for the input. I'll prob just hit the grow shop locally.

  8. :hello:

  9. Posted wrong place, lol
