Burning plastic literally on Extreme Q

  1. Hey everyone.

I have a sort of bizarre issue I want to ask about.

I have an Extreme Q vaporizer, and I have loved it for the last four months.

Today I saw something on the ceramic heating unit so I tried scratching it with a pen cap. I didn't notice it was on 200 C and the plastic of the cap started to burn onto the heating unit! It left a blue mark (the melted blue plastic) and the typical burning plastic smell along with some smoke coming off the unit.

I think I may have burned it off now since there is no more smoke coming off but I am scared that I might be continuing to inhale toxic plastic vapor in future use.

What do you think? What should I do?

    Thanks!

  2. id leave it on for a while to make sure its all burnt away then u should be good to use it, or scrap it off if u can visually see it

I wonder if it's possible to replace the metal mesh on the heating unit?

Oh and the amount of plastic that burned is about the size of the tip of a pen, if that even. So I'd like to think its a negligible amount of burning plastic but better safe than sorry!

  4. i think your over thinking it. if u cant smell or see burning plastic then ur fine. if u do see burning plastic then keep it burning until there is nothing left

  5. Yeah I guess I will see in time, I will look more into it tomorrow. Thanks

  6. Wow, I just ordered my eq last week got it the other day and haven't used it yet, I can say I am glad that this is about you putting a pen to the heating unit and not someone the eq melting plastic on its own, I would just let it vape itself off if possible.
