Bulb wattage vs. ballast wattage

    I was looking on ebay today and saw a really cheap 1000 watt ballast system, but I already have a 400 watt light. Will a 400 watt light work in that strong of a ballast? Or would I have to buy either (a. a 400 watt ballast or (b. a 1000 watt light...

    bulb wattage MUST match ballast wattage and vice versa. the only exeption is that some 400w ballasts will fire a 430w bulb.
