Bulb Sockets

Discussion in 'Lighting' started by RecStoner, Oct 11, 2010.

  1. I saw on someone's grow they used CFLs that screwed in to a socket that plugged right in to an outlet strip.

    Where do you buy those?

  2. wal mart my friend.

    or target.

    or homedepot.

actually very common for some reason lol.

  3. Outlet-to-Socket light plug.. they're like a dollar

  4. Is that really hard to figure out that Home Depot and Lowe's are likely places to look?

  5. I didn't see them at Walmart or home depot. I'll look again though.

  6. Too heaty for me lol,
Never used anything but LEDs and never been disappointed it basically grows it for me:p

  7. well not all of us are born rich.. some are born poor... so cfl's work

  8. LEDs are like 300$ and you save more on heat within a year so I guess I'm not so rich either

I have to admit that I have 1 13 watt CFL to each plant right now and they look good!

Obviously I am going to increase the light as the plant grows larger, but those CFL's aren't bad. They produce just enough heat to keep the room at 74 degrees when they are on.

    Edit: Found It.

  10. As your plants get bigger you will want to transition away from those 13w CFLs. Their light intensity is so low that they have virtually no beneficial light penetration beyond an inch or so. Step up to the 23w or 42w CFL bulbs...

  11. The order is on the way. This was enough to get started.

  12. The Home Depot here doesn't have them, but the Lowes does. Good luck on your mission.

  13. Figures, the one store I didn't look at.

I ordered them for like a $1.00 each. I also ordered 6 bulb socket Y fixtures, so I can also run 12 instead of 6 in my current light, I plan to have those bulbs lower inside the trees.

I wanna try to spread out the light as much as I can.

I figure I can take my 3 flourescents and put them in a triangle shape in the center of the plants so the inside is covered, then some of the CFLs on the outside.

  14. Good luck. I like the ingenuity and creativity.

  15. Hey fellow blades. I am having similar dilemma. I am planning on starting a grow this week, I have my seeds, I bought my light bulbs today but i cant find these little adapters anywhere. The problem is I live in spain and the sockets here arent the same as they are in the USA. So i was wondering if any of you euro growers have come across this problem and if you could give me some advice on where to get them or if they even exist i would really appreciate it. Peace:smoke:

  16. I read a post a while back, and that person had the same problem as you. Your best bet would most likely be just to order them online.

  17. That's what i thought. I looked around a little and could not find them. I,ll Look some more tomorrow and propably go to an electric shop or something:confused: Thanks for the help though:smoke:

  18. yeah, you guys have a 220V outlets with different connectors.

not sure what is available in Spain. :(

  19. Yeah it sucks pretty bad. It seems a lot harder to get that sort of stuff over on this side of the ocean :(

  20. Ive seen this things everywhere from Lowes to Walmart to the local hardware store. I bet the dollar store has them.

Are you guys sure you're looking in the right places? I always see them in household or electrical departments.
