Bugs on Plant...But I'm Totally OK With It!

  1. There are a lot of threads on here about growers finding bugs on their plants, and are wondering what to do...how do you deal with spider mites, aphids, whatever...well, I found bugs on my biggest plant today. But you know what? I'm leaving them there!

    Why?

I have praying mantises on my plant! In particular there is one of them that is simply HUGE...at least three inches long, probably closer to four, and he loves being on that plant! When I found him on the plant, he jumped onto my arm, and ran up my shirt; I gently put him on a nearby hedge, but he flew back onto the pot plant, and is still on it hours later, keeping watch upside down on one of its branches. Seeing how mantises devour bad bugs, I'm keeping him right there as my personal security guard!

  2. lols i like that perspective of just letting the plants be and circle of life......but when your buds are covered in cobwebs cuz the mantis was slacking off you might end up firing him.

  3. I will fire him if that happens, but in the meanwhile, he is more than welcome to hang out and do what he does!

  4. There are actualy quite a few bugs that are benificial to plants, the most common where I live are praying mantis, ladybugs and little jumping spiders.
