Budding plants stop budding and grow

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by Hey Zeus, Aug 19, 2006.

  1. Hey friends I've been doing this for a while and this problem totally screwed my last harvest over and now its doing it again.

The plants were doing fine, 5 weeks into budding and looking very juicy and then suddenly they stop budding up and start growing again, now a few days later my buds are all stretched and stringy and forking out at the top.

Any idea how i can get these girls back in line? any idea what is causing this?

My best idea is that it has something to do with the rootzone cleaner i've put in to wipe out my Sciriad fly problem, its a quaternary ammonium compound that i have mixed in at a weak (1ml per 1lt) in my tank.

  2. Hey Zeus,
Welcome to the city. Is this a hydro grow you have here? What type of lights you using? I do not know anything about the rootzone cleaner but, your problem sounds light related to me. Is the dark period being interrupted at some point? Are they on 12/12? The room should be 100% dark during the plants night time with no light leaks or interruptions. What strain is this? Did you check the trichs at week five? Maybe they were ready for harvest?

  3. I'm sure it's dark peiod was interrupted. If this is the only thing that will make your plants stop budding and start growing again.Interruptions could stop the budding process for days or even weks. It should be on a 12/12 cycle Don't worry though, you'll still grow more bud off the plant.

  4. some pure sativa strains will actually do this thruout flowering...

exactly the way u described it....

  5. sounds like light leaks or the plant has to much nitrogen, but smkvtec is on the right track and i concur with him

can you give more detials to be sure though?

    SOIL:
    What STRAIN are you growing?
    What was the establishing technique?
    (seed or clone?)
What is the age of your plants?
    What PHASE
(seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in?
What Technique are you using? (SOG, SCROG etc)
What size pots are you using? (Include how many subjects to pot)
What substrate/medium are you using? (percentage of perlite, vermiculite...etc?)
What Nutrient's are you using? *Knowing the brand is very helpful*
What is the TDS/EC/PPM of your nutrients used?
What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"?
What method of pH test was administered?
    When was your last water?
    When was your last feeding?
What size bulb are you using?
What is the distance to the canopy?
    What is your RH Factor?
    (Relative Humidity)
    What is the canopy temperature?
    What is the Day/Night Temp?
    (Include fluctuation range)
What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.)
Is the fan blowing directly at plants?
Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist?
Is your water HARD or SOFT?
Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched?
Have any pest chemicals been used? If so what and when?
    Are plant's infected with pest's?
