To each their own, but I don't think i'd want to risk washing off any heads or increase mold potential.
There is actually an extra step if you ran into bud rot or powdery mildew during flowering. It's an extra bucket mixed with h202 + water done before the lemon/baking soda. I guess it's just like washing any other produce before consumption.
I tried bud washing for the first time and it went against everything I have ever done or heard. I used three buckets of tepid water the first one had a small amount of baking soda the others were pure water start with the baking soda submerge the limb into the water straight in pull it out and put it back in two or three time then carefully swirl it around for a total time in that bucket 1 1/2 -2 minutes use an up and down motion to get most of that water off then do the same thing on the other two buckets then use centrifugal motion to get as much water of the buds as possible then hang them on a wire in a room with a fan going on low and make sure the humidity stays low and after about two hours you can't tell they were ever wet. The shit that came off those plants was disgusting there was bug parts, dirt lint, bug shit, bug eggs, bird shit and who knows what else. Under a scope there is no damage to the trics and they stay clear. The smoke is clean and the high isn't affected at all, they are in glass and holding up just fine I will do it again. Once you see what you have been smoking you will wash your buds.
Oh yeah I'm definitely going to wash my buds for my first harvest, but I was wondering if you just let the whole branch dry and then dry trim. I guess I should trim them after they dry initially and before the drying/curing process.
So I take it this washing business is for buds grown outdoors? Because I don't see the point if grown indoors,as you won't get those contaminates in a clean grow room.(bird shit especially, lol) Let's get growing!
I'm growing indoors but I leave my small 2x2 1/2 open to keep temps under control. My room gets very dusty in general so I can imagine my buds will be very dusty as well. Either way I see it just like washing your lettuce or spinach before you eat it
Indoors is just as bad just different stuff like hair, dead skin, dust mite shit that floats in the air, dust, lint from cloths, and if you have pets their stuff too and with fans going everything that is in the room gets blown right on your plants unless you use a clean room like they use when making computer chips then you have dirty buds.
I have a hepa filter on my intake fan, but microscopic particles will always stick to resinous buds, even after you 'wash' them. Let's get growing!
I love how some people are so afraid of water with their mj. It's a plant that can grow outdoors. It rains outside! Lmao. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I inherited some dirty plants.. bugs, webs, ash from the fires burning close. Got some high expectations for this. Can I really expect all them little dirty f'rs to come off?
Yo Jimmy, if they're as dirty as you say, I can assure you that you will be happy after washing them. Be as gentle as possible, I did this on my recent harvest and I will continue to do it for outdoor Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
They are some greasy bastards. Would never have accepted them if I wasn't already done with my harvest. If this works as well as claimed maybe I'll become a convert too.
