bubbler

  1. So I'm getting a bubbler for christmas and I was wondering how much they are and are any of you happy with your bubblers? Should I get one small enough to put in my purse or not? Are they easy to take care of?

  2. Yeah, bubs are great, you just have to keep them clean because they get dirty fast. Especially the smaller ones.

  3. Well, i'll just list the pros and cons to the best of my ability:

    Pros-
Smooth hit because of water filtration
Can look really nice, depending on design
    Are quite portable
Bowls seem to last FOREVER (this is just my experience)

    Cons-
Water gets dirty as hell, and does so fast. Can be annoying to clean constantly.
While the pipe is portable, the water isn't, so you'll always need (or really, really want) water to smoke
Bubblers SMELL (mainly due to the residue left from the dirty water)
They are quite fragile, most bubblers (though designed to do so) are very unstable regardless of what position you put them down in.
Water has the nasty habit of splashing up into your mouth on hard rips (not all bubblers do this)

I agree with you on these except that you don't absolutely need water. Waters great obviously for the pros you listed, but without it you have a decent dry pipe, its not the end of the world.

  5. Thanks guys....how much do they usually run?

  6. Depending on the piece. I just bought this little one with a small bowl, and like a cat tail for a mouth piece. Little bigger than the palm of my hand. Price? $13 after tax. Cheap as hell, super portable and hits nice.

Depends what you want, if your gettin somethin small-medium and just China glass probably about $20-60.

I got this for $40 about a year back.

Yeah I thought it'd be around 20-60 for the kind of bubbler I want. Thanks :)

  9. Bubblers are great. More portable and easier to use than a bong, and they are better than using a dry pipe or a joint. There is nothing basically wrong with them, but I don't care that much for the smaller ones. The one I currently use is about 7 inches. Larger will generally give you better diffusion. Here are my tips. As with all glass, thicker is better. With bubblers, I like hammers. My problem with sherlocks is having the bowl so low and close to my face. I like it out and away better. For many people that isn't an issue. The more complicated the diffusion, the harder it is to clean. Speaking of cleaning, do it often and it's easier and quicker than waiting till it's a mess. For me anyway, double and trip bubblers are a waste. A good single chamber bubbler will probably draw better and the coolness gained from the additional chamber(s) is pretty negligible. They can look pretty cool though. You can always try out a cheap one to see how you like bubblers, then upgrade on down the road if you like them. They all work pretty much the same. Cheap ones are more fragile, don't draw as easily, and don't diffuse as well, but they work. One other thing. Look at the size of the bowl. You don't want one so small that it's a one hitter or so big you need a party to burn up a bowl. I can't tell you how much you should spend on one, but I'll tell you that I spent about $60 on mine. It's a decent size, decent thickness, and I'd spend that again to get another one like it. It isn't worked or anything like that either. Just a nice design in the glass. I'm reasonably careful. I don't break or lose much. It's glass and some people aren't as careful with theirs as I am, so cheaper makes more sense for them. Bubblers are like all glass. There is one in whatever price range you're shopping in, but your basically paying for thickness, size, and design.

  10. Getting my bubbler tomorrow, thanks for the advice :)

  11. Hey to clean it just soak it in 91% or higher isopropyl alcohol for a day, it'll be clean as helllll, then q-tips with alcohol to spot-clean, then water soak to get alcohol out.

I boil mine too, but some people say not to because it makes glass fragile, this is locally blown and thick though so I don't worry about that as much.

  12. Is there really that much of a difference between a glass pipe and a bubbler?
    Taste-wise, smoothness-wise :)

  13. Its more like hitting a bong than a straight glass pipe. After smoking blunts and pipes you really notice the difference. Very smooth and if they are clean you can get a nice taste from the bud as well.

  14. We need pics of your new bub

  15. i've had two bubblers, one was a little $30 one and the other was $60. I like bubblers over bowls, they're usually just as portable and the hits are a lot more smooth in my opinion. always having to have water can be a pain in the ass when you're on the go though.

Carry around a bottle of water lol

  17. Guys its winter time, just melt some snow in the bubbler! Did it last Christmas, it worked really well and was super cold.

That wouldn't work with my bubbler and I live in cali :p

  19. Well put. I have a solid hammer bub and when I need some filtration on the go it works great! Thing rips and will definitely get me stoned after a bowl or two. I also seem to find that well packed bowls just keep going and going. Water is an issue, I tend to clean my bubbler after every 5-10 packs at least and I change the water in between every two bowls probably. I think stability depends on the piece. My hammer bub I got for many reasons but for one it is incredibly stable compared to a tall sherlock that can get knocked over easier.
