Bubble hash - first try

Discussion in 'Harvesting and Processing Marijuana' started by MrMota, Sep 11, 2021.

  1. I got everything together:
Bubble bag set (5 bags), 5 gallon bucket, big bag of ice, 1 gallon iced water, paint stirrer on electric drill...
For the experiment I used 70g of street weed and 10g of trim.
I used a rolling pin and knife to crush and chop the weed. Dumped the 1 gallon of cold water in, then the weed, then the ice. Went at it for a couple of minutes with the paint mixer. Then began pulling.
Now, when I watched this on YouTube, the guy got most hash from the 175u, then ever-decreasing amounts with the smallest the 25u.
But my result is different. I got 1.75g from the 175u, 1.6g from the 25u, and almost nothing from the ones in between. Not a great yield: 2.5% is all. I would have got more RSO than that. Anyway now to try it.

  2. Yields aren’t usually too great. Especially if it’s fresh frozen.

    Quality in, quality out.

    Any pics to share?

  3. In time you will note the best hash is from just one size bag
but its the really cold fingers biz I didn't like
I hope you saw the Cervantas diy flick

  4. Yes. Later on I found that a lot of material had formed what looked like heads of broccoli with the crushed ice. So I mashed that up and ran it again and pretty much doubled the yield.

  5. I tried it this afternoon and I got well baked. After I pressed the water out of it, it looked like Lebanese hash.

  6. Anyway. This was just 60g of street weed and 20g of trim. Next time I'll use a half kilo of fresh trim and bud, that should work better.

  7. How did this experience compare with other types of extractions like ethanol or iso hash?

I personally like ice cold grain alcohol poured over ice cold buds for 2 min then strain and evaporate for amazing QWET.

  8. Why cold? I do everything at room temperature.

  9. Supposedly you get less chlorophyll etc. if the alcohol is freezing cold. I'm not sure yet if I prefer hash to oil. I did enjoy making the hash though. I ended up with a product that seemed exactly like what I used to buy in England in the 70s, the Lebanese hash.

  10. Ive never heard that. Dry ice hash is the ideal "smokeable" hash in my opinion. Its just like really finely ground potent weed. But for edibles, oil is the only way to go. I doubt ill ever do water hash, seems like a huge pain in the ass.

  11. Getting everything ice cold helps minimize unwanted extraction of chlorophyll and other unwanted compounds. It's a technique i learned from PSam's green dragon tincture thread called another tincture thread or dragon lite.

  12. I'm guessing the improved quality you noticed was due to the super cold temps from the dry ice.

  13. No dry ice hash is like the ultimate kief. No alcohol or any solvents, you just use dry ice and a 150 micron bag and shake it. I say ultimate smokeable hash because you can top a bowl with it, fill a bowl with it, add it to a joint. Just very simple, its not like dabbing. Using dry ice compared to cold alcohol is still two completely unrelated forms of making hash, one is mechanical one is solvent.
