Bubble buckets drains

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by holyreefer, Sep 18, 2011.

  1. holes are they really needed?
I mean since i do want my roots to be in the nutes?

  2. installing a drain is the easiest way to drain the buckets... if you wanna lift your plant out each day and deal with air lines and all that mess, go right ahead...

or use a step drill bit and cut your own.. install a push grommet to a ball valve and life gets a whole lot simpler...

but i guess the answer to your question is no...you don't need one... but i give you two weeks till you cut one in

  3. OUCH!!!!! need a drain #1 I use a drain with a ball valve on a bulkhead fitting to take samples of my water for analysis and to drain the bucket if needed.

I crack the valve and take samples to see just what the hell is going on inside.
What I have found is if you have a quality metering device by taking samples and adjusting where needed it is not necessary to drain the bucket or change out the fluids. With a good meter you can adjust between adding H2o when it goes down.

How do I know its going down........I have a sight glass/plastic tubing on the outside connected to two more bulkhead fittings........thank you Rumpleforeskin!

Tihspeed is correct-O-mundo you will need one!
