Broken clavical, would MJ help?

Discussion in 'Medical Cannabis: Treatments & Patient Experiences' started by BrokenClavicle, Jan 29, 2010.

  1. I recently destroyed my collarbone from a ski accident and had to have surgery.

I'm prescribed to Percocet and that has been helping with the pain, but it's becoming less and less effective the more I take it. (Still helps out with the pain just as much, but it doesn't last as long. I don't want to take the percocet more than I'm instructed too, so I was thinking that marijuana might help control the pain between when the percocet wears off and when I can take it next..

Any thoughts? When I'm off the medicine the pain is pretty much unbearable, the most pain I've ever felt in my life, so I'd really like to do something about it.

    Thanks.

  5. Dude, didn't you see knocked up?
But seriously, they've used it for neuropathic pain I know. I don't know about yours, but it probably won't hurt to give it a shot.

  6. I broke my clavicle in September, but it definitely wasn't as serious as yours, mine didn't require surgery. But I remember the same day I broke it, at the end of the night after hitting the bong, it made the pain go away entirely.

  7. Yeah, I guess you could call me a moderate stoner. I really don't smoke during the school year but I defiantly smoke over the summer. I'd rather do better in school and not smoke during the school year and potentially get a better job and make more money (and buy more weed), than just blow away school.

  8. Instead of asking yourself "would mj help?", you need to ask yourself "Does MJ help?"

Seriously all the fucking bullshit makes us wonder if the weed will help because there are so many people saying it won't. My guess is, it helps a lot of things, the pharmaceutical companies want to scare people so they will never find out.

  9. Yes, it will help. Cannabis acts with the prescribed pain killer to produce better pain control. There are some studies about it in my "Granny Storm Crow's MMJ Reference List". And as you lie there recovering- a little light reading from the list for you!

  10. Thanks to everyone for their great replies, I'm a little out of it right now but once I'm in a more normal state-of-consciousness I'll respond to everyone's post.

I think I'll go ahead and try it, I might bake some brownies or something too..

I'll also post updates here if I do go through with it on how much it's helped/etc.

I actually just got this really cool device that uses "Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation" to help relieve the pain and it's actually helping. Maybe MJ + this device + my meds will help me stay in the moderate pain zone instead of almost passing out/completely in pain zone.

And most importantly, I just need to try and keep a good attitude about this.. at least I didn't break my neck!

  11. I'm not sure how much of a smoker you are, but smoking MJ may make you cough quite a bit and that in turn could really hurt your shoulder. Now you may want to vaporize it or get some cannibutter and eat it. Just a suggestion. But I'm sure it will help.

  12. That's a great suggestion. Over this summer I was a seasoned toker, but I've been on quite the t-break recently..
