Women's basketball star Brittney Griner, who was convicted in Russia of smuggling two vape canisters of hash oil into Russia, a crime for which she admitted her guilt in 2022, has been traded for notorious arms dealer, Victor Bout. This sets a very dangerous precedence, which other unfriendly countries will likely follow: Detain Americans for any reason, and Biden will release valuable imprisoned spies, arms dealers, and terrorists.

Biden prisoner exchange for Brittney Griner leaves behind Marine veteran Paul Whelan — again
Paul Whelan's family wants President Biden to be more 'assertive' and take Russian prisoners

  2. Prisoner exchanges are nothing new, there was many swaps done during the Cold War.

  3. I'm glad she was released. That female penal colony sounds horrific! However, it could have been easily prevented had she not taken the carts with her. Not a smart move, celebrity or not, regardless of political persuasion. Had she not been a celebrity, the probability of her release would have been near zero.

  4. What about the men's colony?
Will Brittney Griner sing and stand for the National Anthem now that the Biden admin has compromised national security to free her while allowing a US Marine to stay in prison?

She was taken from her cell in November and sent to a women's prison about five hundred miles from Moscow which does not have cells or bars. There, the women prisoners live together in groups of one hundred in a large room. They work 10-12 hours a day, seven days a week, sewing army and prison guard uniforms. She may not have been placed with other inmates, or performed any work, as there is a period of isolation for all new inmates until they are diagnosed to be disease free.

  8. He tried, Russia did not allow it. It was Brittney or nothing. They will probably want to trade someone else for Whalen.

  9. Why does that matter? Do we need have freedom of speech and protest? Blind patriotism is bad - furthermore. ‪

They probably took into account the mental fortitude of a marine vs a civilian, I would think the marine would want his civs saved first… ‬

  12. Biden had zero intentions in getting Paul Whelan released, it doesn't serve him in anyway. Getting the anti-American griner out checks all the boxes, gay, black, female, he did it for the votes. Biden and his buddy Putin has it figured out. Biden is Putin and Xi's lapdog.

  13. I don't understand how anyone can feel bad for her or be glad she was released. She willingly went into a communist country that absolutely hates America and wanted to try and sneak in a substance that's highly illegal there.

If this was your average American citizen that this happened to, no one would have ever heard about it, no news coverage, and that person would be rotting in a Russian prison until their time was fully served.

    Total bullshit!

yep! google "Marc Fogel". in 2018 he was arrested for 17g of cannabis flower prescribed to him by a US doctor, and sentenced to 16 years "hard labor". he was being housed in a stalin era built prison but who knows for sure. he was a 61 year old teacher iirc. no one even knows his name.

good for brittney and good for her family. let's hope the US has a more valuable russian asset so they can trade for Fogel.

Rep. Guy Reschenthaler upset prisoner swap didn't include Butler native Marc Fogel

edit: it's claimed that the US state dept doesn't keep record of US citizens imprisoned abroad but this organization makes claim to. they estimate as many as 60+ US citizens are being detained or imprisoned outside of the US. so, on the surface the transaction for brittney seems questionable as opportunistic, pandering, and political. besides Whelan and Fogel there is another woman being "detained" in russia for some issue. those folks have been political prisoners for a lot longer than 10 months.

  17. If Russia lived in the nail biting fear of the last admin as the right likes to claim Whelan would have been out 5 years ago. Sorry that the gay black female is reinvading the Patriots space. Maybe President Haley will deport her.

  20. I think they should have gotten Whelan out first, and let her sew uniforms until it's her turn to get swapped.

When she was playing for her college team, she punched a female player in the face during a basketball game disagreement, breaking her nose. She was never actually punished for that. She's a spoiled, rich brat who thinks that she can do whatever she pleases, with no consequences because, until she was busted in Russia, that is all she ever knew.
